Great stick, good speed, and keeps the great arm from pitching to outfielder. I wish he never did HGH and wish he wasn't in St. Louis.

Guess the HGH hasn't worn off yet.

2nd guy looked safe. Tag was on the shoulder and his hand got in.

    I thought so, too.

If Jesus plays for the Cardinals, I might have to think about my religion. Dude has a cannon, though.

Awesome, too bad he needs more than 60ft 6" to make an accurate throw.

What's the big deal? Carlos Lee had two outfield assists the other day. (of course, his required an intermediary). :)

the second throwout was just amazing... is right, that was play of the year, and the first one is runner up. That leaves me speechless

Idunno. I don't even think it is Cardinals team play of the year. I would save that honor for the following play by Joel Pineiro:

HOLY GUACAMOLE! That was an awesome play. The foot thing was a fluke, but to catch it and throw against his body weight like that all in one motion was impressive.

Agree, but that right there is the biggest flaw with baseball -- if the play is even remotely close, the defense will get the benefit of the doubt 99 percent of the time. If the ball beats the player to the bag and the player appears out to the naked eye, the defense will usually get that call -- even if he has a great slide and beats it.

My whining aside, that second throw is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. My goodness.

I fully agree, and if I was the umpire he'd be called out too. I remember a few years ago one commentator (may have been JD) said that a lot of close calls are made in favor of the player making the great play. Meaning that if a base runner legs one out and makes a routine play close he will get the benefit of the doubt. If a fielder makes an unbelievable play he'll get the out call. Since hearing that I have noticed it really holds true. And basically that is why the guy was out at third. Ankiel made the better play and got rewarded for it.

I understand the love for the second throw, but the impressive thing about the first one is where it was caught. My goodness, catchers would kill to have that kind of accuracy trying to throw runners out stealing second.
