After the team practice on Monday (April 28), Rick Adelamn hit back at Tracy McGrady's remarks about Deke Mutombo should be in the game towards the end of Game 4.......
I agree but it's too late to employ the motion offense when they were hardly ever running it to begin with. Old habits die hard.
I think he diffused it fairly well. I wouldn't call it "firing back", he sticks up for himself and his team by saying he'll take responsibility for his end.
I like Adelman's comments...Tracy better worry about himself and how he can better run the motion office, attack the rim, and make his free throws...
Agreed...Although you hate to see people pointing fingers, especially your so called star player..STFU and make an aggressive play and win the f'n game...
No, no, no. Let's just take this as some open and frank discussion, nothing personal. Internal conflctis are the least the Rockets need now.
Apparently, it didn't work out and it came back on Adelman in the form of Tracy criticizing him. I like it that they're criticizing each other & pointing out their mistakes. Let's just hope they learn from them. Adelman is right that Tracy should be more active, move better. I thought he was doing well in the early part of the game and just got tired towards the end. On the other hand, Adelman had his share of mistakes too like the Deke substitution and finding ways to be better offensively. He is supposedly a genius on offense right? Defense have kept the Rockets winning all year long thanks to JVG. We're yet to see significant improvement to our offense.
It is from Dallasnews. What could you expect? I am suprised they are so interested in the rockets' news rather than their own mavs.
Actually, it's an AP national story. It was not written by the Dallas newspaper. Chris Duncan is the Houston based AP sports writer. And, I saw Adelman say that exact same quote but it was on the 6pm news. It was not in a mean spirited tone or a "I'm gonna shoot back" tone at all. I sense that there is no friction between he at Tracy and that people are making a big deal out of nothing.
It doesn't negate McGrady's point: in that situation your best defensive rebounder (and tallest player, with sharp elbows) should've been in the game. I don't think McGrady meant it as a jab at Adelman, though. This whole thing is, predictably, being blown out of proportion. But that's par for the course when your team is facing elimination, finger pointing gets under way.
Tracy said some things that were very true. Rick Adleman said some things that were very true. No one "fired" at anyone.
A refreshing change to the way Tmac has been coddled by other coaches. Nice to see someone holding him accountable. This offseason they need a come to Jesus meeting with Tmac..... It has to be Adelman's way or the highway. DD
You call being told you'll be out of the league within 2 years coddled? Adelman and McGrady both are speaking the truth. No one is throwing anyone under the bus.
