Actually i thought adelman did a pretty good job tonight espite the loss, he did all you could reasonably ask him to do. 1. He played Jordan Hill big minutes 2. Shane's minutes are declining, Budinger played more minutes and was in at crunch time. 3. Brooks and Lowry are almost sharing equal time, with Lowry playing significant amount of time in the 2nd half 4. He played Martin more in the 1st half than the 2nd half, and Martin was the last starter to come in in the 4th, he gave Lee a chance to earn crunch time minutes. 5. He benched Yao when he was ineffective in the 4th. So I have to give kudos to him, he pretty much did all the things I though he should do, so this loss is not on him.
I am glad he went to Jordan Hill. The problem lies in the pacing and control of our lead and bench guards. Kevin Martin = 4th Quarter choke artist?
It's not Ricks fault that his 17 mill supposed franchise player is a turn style on defense and cant guard a snail anymore or Brooks and Martin are defense allergic chuckers.
Kudos to RA for letting Hill out of his cage. I envy Brad Miller... he's getting paid $5 million dollars to sit court side at every Rockets game this season. Lucky man.
True that. Better late than never. Next, in game adjustment when the other team is on a roll, or at least call time out when the game is shifting momentum and a Scrub is killing us.
Once again, Adelman is proving to be a pretty gutsy coach. He's making adjustments that I did not think he would have it in him to do. - 7 Man rotation tonight - very bold move - Benched Martin in the 4th Quarter today to play Lee as a Defensive move - not many coaches would have the guts to do this, did this with Scola last game too.
I personally do not like adelman however, he is an experienced coach and he's been on deep playoff teams. He knows what he is doing. But please find some Playing time for JT.
Gusty? I wouldnt say it was gutsy....he learned from his previous mistake by playing lee more on the smaller players and letting shane play off of them so he could come over and help when needed. As for his 7 man rotation, it's the same thing he did the last time we played them, except he had JJ in there more, but he pretty much benched Miller, hill, and ish then too. Nothing gutsy about it...
Benching your leading scorer on the team in a tight game in the 4th quarter? not many coaches would do that.
then that's only 1/2 gutsy ...but it seemed like the obvious decision to make...needed defense to hold them back and for 5 mins after Martin sat they held GS to 4 points. I'm sure he would have put him right back in if the scoring started slowing down, but Lee hit a three right after Martin sat and then Lowry had that clutch 3 on the next score to help keep pushing the lead...
I'll give Adelman his props tonight. He didn't repeat his mistakes. He played Lee more to cover Monta and it payed dividends. Also, I like that he's not starting Miller anymore. Adelman has been much improved in the previous few games.
Maybe. But probably not. A day after letting Hill play the entire 4th while Scola watched, he plays Hill four minutes total. He still has no idea what he's doing.
I think it's a matchup thing. Adelman played Hill and Miller less than 5 minutes each in the first GSW game as well. It looked like he played some small ball lineup to match up with the Warriors, giving Battier some time at the PF spot. Plus, Hayes and Scola were having great games. Adelman found the rotation and matchup that worked and played it. A sign of a good coach, no?
Has there ever been a general COACHING thread? A consistent all year thread similar to the Tracy McGrady thread? Though reactionary "FIRE ADELMAN" threads every other day are more fun
