Is anyone else getting sick of this gravy training idiot? I mean I used to root for his girls because they are from the good ole USA, then I watch them win, and their arrogance is astonishing, not once does either one of them acknowledge their opponent. They are truly the most classless athletes I have ever seen. Then this weekend, Sir Richard is accused of having Venus fake an injury so that Serena can win, ok, that may be a bit far fetched, but then he makes up crap about all the "RICH WHITE FANS" that are throwing racial slurs at him. I am a bit sick of the race card, it is played far too often, and is more annoying now then ever before. Here is a little fact for EVERYONE of every nationality. At some point in your families history, they were slaves...WHAT? You ask? Not my family....oh yes, every single person is related to someone that was a slave at some point in time. The Greeks were conquered, the Romans the Egyptians, the English..the Mongols...EVERYONE !!! So until we all sit down and quit pointing fingers about something as meaningless as skin tone, we are not going to have a meaningful peace. Earl Woods? He's nothing like Richard. He usually shies away from the limelight. Maybe he came off as Richardesque because he demanded so much money from Nike and other sponsors.Well, those companies all showed a profit from their relationship with Woods, and he was right in claiming that the 50 million 5 year deal Tiger signed a while ago was a bargain.It certainly was a bargain, because Nike showed a HUGE profit from his golf products. By the way, anybody catch Richard when he went center court of some tourney recently promoting his new bottled water? This arrogant ass named the bottle by taking parts of his and his daughters names. He talked about giving a "percentage" of the profits to some charity. Nice try Richard. "I think gravy training idiot" is unfair. The guy taught his daughters very well, imo. He protected them from the spotlight early unlike Andrea Jaeger parent's and the sad story of Jennifer Capriati. I played competitive tennis since 9 yrs old, and know the tennis brats with their overbearing parents. Maybe he is overly protective of their tennis development, maybe he is stupidly trying to deal with sponsors without getting an agent, but it is clear there are other tennis fathers who are far worse to their daughters. There is difference being an idiot about trying to be your kids agent and promoter (or whatever he is doing now), but I respect the way he taught them tennis, and protected them early. Now Mary Pierce's father is a gravy training idiot who taught her to be a headcase on the court, and she eventually had to get a restraining order against him. Oh...and let's not forget Steffi Graf's father who is: You see, you can beat down a Richard Williams and call him on those stupid racial slurs. But as of now, the guy is not bad to his daughter, nor their tennis development like the fathers of Mary Pierce, Jennifer Capriati and Steffi Graff. I think he did a fine job raising his daughters to play a very lonely game that requires strong nerves to advance that far.
Them living in Compton growing up had more to do with them staying out of the spotlight, than anything Richard did. He trained them at an early age for one reason...to make him rich.I understand kids start playing at an early age, because I played in ALOT of tennis tournaments and understand how some of the parents can be, but if you saw early interviews with him back when Serena and Venus were kids, he was the same arrogant ass. How is running on the court with " It's venus's party and no ones invited" scribbled on a whiteboard in any way an attempt at "promoting" or "protecting" his daughters? There's no excuse for him and his daughters actions. I believe that Serena won some tennis player of the year award, and without informing anyone, sent some rock star I think to pick it up for her. Good job Serena. Show em ya care! Also,didn't one of them walk off the court during the middle of a match, claiming that she was too tired to continue? I think it was Venus who then mocked the crowd saying " I have no money to repay them." ------------------

I relished in making them cry in front of their parents for losing a stupid game. If I had a father who cared, I would have thought it was funny for him to hold up a sign mocking the country clubs. Serena and Venus have a father who cares; who does them no harm. In the end, maybe he is putting way to much pressure on them, and we will know soon enough. If that is true, then my bet is one of them quits early. You explain to me how he is hurting their tennis like Mary Pierce's father!!! It got so bad at the tournaments, that Mary asked the tennis committee to stop letting him into the stadium. Wow. Both of yall played competitive junior tennis too? How good were you? I feel ya about the problems of the parents. I was watching one of my friends play, and the other girl's father ran coaching tips to her hidden in Gatorade bottles. Pretty sad stuff. ------------------ The next time I have meat and mashed potatoes, I think I'll put a very large blob of potatoes on my plate with just a little piece of meat. And if someone asks me why i didn't get more meat, ill just say, "Oh, you mean this?" and pull out a big piece of meat from inside the blob of potatoes, where ive hidden it. Good magic trick, huh?
It's all how you interpret it. He is IMO a bad father and a bad tennis father. Not only is he hurting their reputations with his antics, but you see his arrogance rubbing off on them, which is not a good thing. He is instilling bad morals in them. I just thought them not attending college, and I assume not playing tennis for their school, is one reason for them staying out of the limelight. I'm not trying to sterotype a city, but I don't think that Compton's school system's tennis is that great. You could reply with, yea but most players get recognized for playing in tournaments out of school, but I just think them not playing at the school level kind of kept them off the national radar. ------------------
TPL, I thought Steffi was named simply because they had a better chance to get money back from her, that she never was involved. Nomar, did you play? not that great in the junior tourny's; I was a head-case early. It took me until High School to really learn to love the game, because I had a great coach who turned it into a team atmosphere for once. I made it to Captain my Senior and the state tourny in doubles, twice (I love volleying) I really got good later though, once it suddenly dawned to play fully relaxed with no pressure and (not to forget) hittin a 120 mph serve.
I could be wrong,but I was under the impression that they were both in on it, but then Stefi bailed on her dad and turned him in. I'm thinking a private plea bargain was involved. I know it's a conspiracy theory, but you never know. ------------------
I am not talking about their tennis, I am talking about their lack of class, and his inability to cope with it and playing the BS race card.
