Richard Jefferson, 6/21/80, SF, Arizona, Junior, 6-7, 222 Hometown: Phoenix, AZ High School: Moon Valley NBA Comparison: Tim Thomas Strengths: World class athlete with great strength. Defense is his greatest asset. Potential is very intriguing despite his current skll level due to the fact that he was a post player in high school. He is still getting a feel for the perimeter after three years at Arizona on the wing. Weaknesses: Not a great ball handler or passer but these skills are still developing. Shot can be inconsistent, and doesn't shoot well off the dribble. ***He sounds good to me. He probably needs to work on his j a little puts it still good. Great defender.*** Gerald Wallace, 7/23/82, SF, Alabama, Freshman, 6-7, 210 Hometown: Childersburg, AL High School: Childersburg NBA Comparison: Dominique Wilkens Strengths: Unbelievable leaping ability.... Very agile and explosive.... Great motor. Will not be outhustled.... Has a good jumpshot. Offensive game has great potential... Has the potential to be a superstar on the next level. Weaknesses: Ball Handling skills need some improvement.... Outside shot needs more consistency.... Has alot of raw talent that must be harnessed to it's maximum ability. ***His ball handling has improved. Great leaper and love his dunks. Really needs to work on his j and when that is good he will be an all-around player.*** I would use our 13th pick to pick one of these guys. I dont really care who we pick as long as it is one of these two. Who would yall want out of these two?And just to put it in there who would Rudy T choose? Thanks!! ------------------
Gerald Wallace is going to drop like a rock. I wouldn't be too surprised if he was available at our Milwaukee pick. You don't just develop a jumper over night, and Wallace has some serious developing to do. He'll drop like Jumaine Jones. Jones came out early, and was projected by many mid-to late lotto. He went 27th. He's yet to get major minutes off the bench. I'll take Grizzard over Wallace any day. Wallace is too big of a bust-risk for Rudy to take. Maybe at 24. Wallace would do himself a lot of good by saying in school. I like Jefferson, though he's still good a jumper that's not great yet. It has shown plenty of signs of improving, I haven't seen that in Wallace. Jefferson is a lot closer to a poor man's Shawn Marion than Tim Thomas. So, in my opinion, Jefferson over Wallace in a landslide. Wallace will have to light it up from outside to make a strong case. I don't say this often, but Wallace could use another year. He's not 7 feet tall, and he's coming off a bad season, not a good combination. Rudy probably thinks the same way I do on this, historically he has. ------------------ "That's been a lifelong dream of mine." -Vince Carter, after laying it in on a breakaway, much to the Vancouver crowd's displeasure. Wallace is the better athlete. I haven't seen too much of him, but he seemed to be an okay defender. The thing that stood out to me was that Wallace was a mad man on the boards...the stats say he gets a rebound every four minutes, I am surprised its not better. Jefferson is okay on the glass with one every 5 minutes. I see wallace fitting better in a zone defense. Good wingspan. Good shotblocker for SF. ------------------
I am not sold on Jefferson yet. Everyone is high on him after his tournament, but that was only a handfull of games. His strength is his D, but I think Wallace will be a better defender and a much better player in the NBA. ------------------ Calvin Murphy for President!
Good question. Both are SO similar that I don't think you can go wrong with either. But I would choose Wallace. He seems to be a more aggressive player. ------------------
Wallace because of his potential ------------------ Greatness is not a singular act, it is a habit. You are what you repeatedly do.
WIth the playoffs in full swing, anyone here think that Wallace looks an awful lot like Finley? They're both about the same size, with similar athletic ability and body composition. ------------------
