That was brilliant television...here is his next guess Bill Maher. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-1O9xTLTBc8&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/-1O9xTLTBc8&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> If Huckabee were running instead of McCain I would have a much harder time voting for Obama. DD
Brilliant indeed, wes. Thanks for posting that, because I probably would have missed it. I'll add that I sure as heck agree with Dreyfus. I'll also add that several months ago I would never have dreamed that I would wish that Mike Huckabee were the GOP nominee instead of John McCain, yet I do. Civility is highly underrated, especially in politics, and Huckabee, like Dreyfus said, has it.
I also do not agree w/ much of Huckabee's views, but he is indeed very civil and a captivating interviewer. His show deserves to be on a better network than Fox News. If Huckabee won the Republican nomination, I'd like to think this would be a election opposite of what it is now - absolutely divisive.
Tonight was the first time I watched Huckabee's show (replayed from yesterday), and I loved it. He's charming, civil, open, and a great interviewer. All of his interviewees were people "from the other side", and he did a great job.
Dude, I heart Hucakabee! Bill Maher....not so much. Man, Huckabee really put Maher in his place on religion, and he did it in such a quiet, non-threating, non-demeaning way. That kind of dialouge is really refreshing. Huckabee/Brownback '12
Huckabee may be a great guy and may have a successful new career on his hands but I couldn't vote for that guy in a billion years. He doesn't believe in evolution and told people in South Carolina it was fine for them to fly the Confederate Flag. He's the 1950's candidate.
That was a really cool interview. I could see myself warming up to this Huckabee guy, given a few warts...
I don't think he put him in his place so to speak but he presented his argument in a very polite, mannerly way that is rare these days for people on both sides of the debate.
There are a lot of people who have faith and do not believe in evolution, or they believe in evolution in varying degrees. The fact that you would disqualify a candidate on this ground is disturbing.
I like the Dreyfus interview a lot. I'd have a tough time believing if Huckabee were on the ticket instead of McCain, that the campaign tactics by Republicans would really be any different though. If they were not any different then you would see a less civil and respectful Huckabee than the one we're watching on youtube.
That was really cool. I would never in a million year vote for Huckabee for any Federal office. He wishes to rewrite the constitution to fit religion. Huckabee is very likable, has a great sense of humor, and would bring a tone and civility welcome to politics. But His views on the constitution are dangerous to our nation.
I'll ditto this as well. Couldn't stand him as a candidate, but I from what I had seen I knew he was a pretty cool guy. His interview with Bill Maher was great...I'm glad he said that he's open to questions about his faith. You don't hear that too often nowadays. If you're gonna get rattled by questions, then your faith wasn't that strong in the first place. Glad to see someone on Fox who doesn't yell at their guests!
I find the fact that anybody would consider voting for someone who doesn't "believe in" evolution, or gravity, or other scientifically established truths to be disturbing. Not surprising, but disturbing.
And what exactly has Obama proposed to change the Constitution to that would be dangerous? As far as I know, he has not made any claims anywhere near changing the Constitution, while Huckabee has publicly stated he would change it to align it with his religious beliefs (nevermind that nowhere in Constitution does the president receive such power). Basically, you're full of it.
