I guess many of you have heard Rich Lord's playoff predictions of the Rockets winning the championship. I hope he doesn't jinx us but wouldn't that be awesome!! One series a time and one game at a time.
With yao and t-mac, and as long as Head, battier and Rafer hit the open 3 consistently ......coupled with JVG's defense .....I think we'd be hard for anyone to beat in a 7 game series thats all I'll say, so as not to jinx us
If the Rockets play their game and hit the open shots, they will go far. I see the Spurs & Rockets in the Western finals.
I love our chances...As every stated above, a lot has to happen, but I think we're capable of doing it... I like us in 6 vs. the Jazz...Then we'll worry about the next opponent...
there was a time when Rich Lord got on my nerves for being too Objective and always being such a downer on the rockets, how far have we come
Whoa... championship is probably going overboard. I still prefer the underdog mentality... as in like I may not be the bigger dog, but I sure have the bigger fight in me
For us to win a championship other guys will HAVE to step up not just Yao and Tmac. Its that simple!!! we have finished the season behind the 3 Great teams in NBA Dallas, Spurs and PHX! and the difference between those three teams and us is that THEY ALL HAVE A 3rd SCORER! and we dont! Dallas Dirk, Jet, Jhoward Spurs Tim, Parker, Ginobili Phx Nash, Amare, Barbosa Rockets Mcgrady, Yao, ?
that's true, but our duo is better than any of those duos. let's hope battier was saving his offense for the playoffs! we could use some more games like his phoenix game. oh and don't sleep on my boy luther head.
While I hope he is right on his prediction, sometimes i wonder how some of the dudes on 610 got their jobs. I mean many of those dudes dont know jack about sports and half the time they dont even talk about sports. talk about like movies and oscars and stuff. Hire me 610 I can talk about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie for five minutes and then have twenty minutes of commercials.
I don't put much weight on Rich Lord's opinion, if Charlie Palilo said that instead then I'd feel good about it, not that I'd totally agree with him either.
The Heat won last year with the closets thing to a 3rd scorer being Tione Walker. He scored 13.3 in the playoffs--on the button to what Rafer did for us this year. Personally, I don't think we need a regular 3rd scorer. We need 50PPG from Tmac and Yao, and then every game someone needs to step up and give us 15 or so. Could be Head, Howard, Battier or even Rafer--all are capable on any given night. I don't think it needs to be one regular 3rd scorer. The key is Yao and Tmac playing great, and the rest of the guys hitting their open shots.
It would be nice though, if Yao or Tmac happen to be off, injured, foul trouble, then we can go to the 3rd guy. It's a nice luxury to have. If we had a chance to get Brandon Roy, he would have been that 3rd scorer, oh well...
^ up the 3pt shot is our 3rd scorer and whoever can make it that night is our 3rd scorer. we don't need the same guy to step up every night as a 3rd scorer. just needs another guy scoring in double figure points. but i worry about our defense. hopefully it'll come back in this series.
