I tune into the afternoon show on 610, and I can't tell that we won the freaking game last night. Rich Lord and the other tool, that's filling in for the otherwise weak Vandermeer, are harping on calls that went the Rockets way. Moving screens(in the NBA? no crap?) , fouls on Yao that weren't called, it's infuriating. It was a freaking 18 pt blowout win. If Rich Lord is going to suck at his job... He doesn't know the starting free safety of the Texans as of last week, knows not one rule of any major sport from what I can gather... he can at least be a homer. The hand wringing and pessimism this ass clown puts out is sickening., not just today but all series. Being contrarian against the home team isn't sophisticated and it doesn't make up for your otherwise crap ability, it's just lame. Sorry, I'm still pumped up and half drunk from being at the game last night, and this has struck a nerve.
As far as 610 goes, it's Matt and Adam or nothing for me. I don't think a little homerism is too much to ask.

You know, I would have probably put it a little more politely but either way I agree with you 100%. I know we have 610 employees who read here and I LOVE their station, but the drive time "players" leave a LOT to be described. I know should retain "some" objectivity and not simply side with the home team on everything but every FREAKING DAY I tune in those rat bastards are trying to depress me. Overall the drive time guys have the combined personalities of a roof shingle, but I could get over that if they had decent opinions and were well versed in all sports... but neither of them really are. They really need to consider bumping up the night show to drive time, because they are easily losing out to 790 during the afternoon hours. I hate to say it but there are three other AM radio stations I'd rather listen to from 4-6 then SR610.
Not when there is an alternative station to listen to. Either way the drive time guys never build suspense because they beat the same tired drums day after day. "GO GREEN DAY."

I totally agree with twoniner. I used to like Rich, but I can't stand him now since thie series started and since that fill in jerkoff (who sounds about like the teacher form Ferris Beuller btw, Anyone? anyone? Beuller? Anyone? - it's dangerous to listen to him in the car, he will put you to sleep at the wheel) has been with him, I stick with Charlie now. If you didn't know any better you'd think you had somehow tuned into a dallas radio station by the way those 2 talk about the Rockets.
I wonder how long it will be before MadMax counters with a blindly-allegiant, "drink the kool-aid" post supporting all things 610. j/k Seriously, I agree with some of the previous posts. I actually like Harbeson alot better than Vandemeer. Rich Lord spent years riding Charlie Palilo's coattails. He could get away with letting Charlie do all of the 'heavy lifting' on the show. I tend to spend my afternoons listening mainly to 790.
Harbeson (sp?) is actually a lot better than Lord and Vandermeer when it comes to knowledge. I like him, but know why sone would consider him dull. Marc knows how to skate by on little knowledge with his presentation skills, but Lord is just a second fiddle trying to play top dog. Matt Jackson is the best sports personality in this city.
you won't get that from me. i've been very disappointed in this afternoon group during this series. i liked harbeson a lot more prior to the last 2 weeks or so....i can't say that anymore. i think they've both been overly dismissive of any notion that the officiating has been less than fair. dismissive as if we're talking about black helicopters. most callers haven't taken that approach, but have just said, by chance or otherwise, the Rockets seem to be on the bad end of a lot of bad calls. i don't think that's deniable.

I cant stand 610s morning crew I just started to turn on sports radio 4 months ago and even with 610 being "MORE LOCAL" the guys in the morning sound like they just got done being sick or just got out of bed with all the phlegm sound in their voice and I hear them kicking back luggies also... it didnt take me much longer to be 790 all the time.. I'm sure 610 will be around for awhile, but can they really keep up with ESPN for the longhaul??
It seems like ever other phone call he says "I'll double check on that" or "I'll have to make sure" and then of course he never gets us the info.
