Texas was not in the championship series, which the shirt is obviously referring to by referencing the Rice-Stanford scores. Rice defeated Texas twice which sent them home. Texas was not there. Texas was not good enough. Rice was superior.
But technically it literally means College World Series. You can't assume they knew what they meant. Drunk? I think this is a debate had for in the D&D.
I'm a Texas-ex, and I think the back of the shirt is damn funny. Rice earned the right to gloat by winning the CWS. PS: I can't wait to see what the Mob comes up with for the Rice-Texas football game at Reliant Stadium next month. I usually blow off bands at halftime of college football games, but I never miss the Mob when I see a Rice football game. They are the greatest band in college football!
Remember, this shirt isn't "official" at all, and is a creation of the SA. I would expect the "Tuck Fexas" shirts to make their return before the game at Reliant...
Funny shirt. UT people get so riled up over stuff like this. Outstanding. Poooooor horns.... Can't wait for the presentation of the national championship rings to the Rice baseball team...at the halftime of the Rice/Texas football game at Reliant. Now THAT will be a treat. I'm sure the horn fans will boo, but I will enjoy every second of it.

What makes this sad is that this is Rice's first national championship in any major team sport (if I'm not mistaken) and instead of celebrating that for the great accomplishment that it is they are using it as a opportunity to make themselves into A&M Junior. I think it cheapens the win. Why do they think they need to validate the championship by pointing out that Texas did not win it? I would think the trophy should be validation enough. (Full disclosure: I am a UT grad, but I have always pulled for Rice. This makes me not want to root for them in the future.)
I am surprised at my fellow Texas Exes. This is nothing to get all riled-up over. Like I said, Rice earned the right to strut by winning the CWS. So they poke a little fun at UT. Big deal. We can poke fun at Rice on our TShirts after we win the NCAA Football National Championship. Or we can choose not to. Let it go. Congrats again to Rice.
FWIW, this is the only t-shirt I've seen with Texas's name on it. All the other shirts just talk about Rice winning. This was NOT an official t-shirt by any means, but rather something a student group put together. This same student group had a smash hit t-shirt back in 1994 when Rice beat UT in football that said "Tuck Fexas". In fact, you can still see a few of those shirts in circulation around Rice. Rice versus Texas has always been a David versus Goliath situation. Rice has around 30k living alumni. That's about 60% of the current STUDENTS at UT at this moment. UT has a ridiculous amount of funding for their athletics, Rice doesn't. Rice has strict academic standards for its athletes, UT doesn't (comparatively speaking). These things considered, heck yeah we're gonna celebrate beating UT. UT/Rice has become a baseball rivalry in recent years. The scene at Reckling last year when the two played during the regular season was VERY tense. It's very safe to say that UT considers Rice one of its main rivals in baseball. Rivals poke fun at each other. Get over it.
I should've read more closely. I apologize. I also agree with RMTex...The Mob is the greatest school band ever! They did some act at UT back in 1998 (I believe) with Bevo being blown up and turned into steaks. Hilarious.
My seats for the UT-Rice game are in one of the private corporate suites at Reliant Stadium, and I plan on drinking as much private corporate suite booze as possible during the first half in preparation for THE MOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
