Dang, a 2 out rally by Texas in the 1st. Seth Johnston crushes a 3-run HR.

Couple of posters are notably absent.

A couple of posters were notably at the game. Nice game, horns. Your pitching and defense were solid. Reminds me of the Owls last season. We'll see how you hold up in June.

I wish I would have made it out to the game. I'm trying to get more into college baseball. When does the regular season end for Rice? Maybe I'll make it to a game after I get home for summer from college...

A Rice poster on Owl Zone has accused Trader Jorge of posing as a Longhorn troll.

DEFEND YOURSELF AND THE HONOR OF WILLIAM MARSH RICE, A LIBERAL FROM MASSACHUSETTS!!!

Wish I could've been there as well. Had my first Reckling Park experience (well, the hill beyond the outfield fence) when they creamed by alma mater last Saturday. Got a HR ball though. Cool time.

Good luck Owls the rest of the year. Let's keep the national championship in Texas one way or another!

UT's baseball team is doing a lot better than I thought it would considering all the departures from last year's squad(ie Majewski, Moss, Quintanilla).

Being at UT student from just west of Houston, its cool seeing UH/Rice do well in baseball. And Reckling Park is really nice, a lot nicer than the outdoors astro turfed Disch.

It's nice to win 3 games over such a quality foe, but both these teams will be battling it out for the CWS title, and both have great baseball programs.

Do you think maybe Texas wouldn't be so motivated to beat Rice every time out this year if Rice hadn't made focused their National Championship celebration into a taunting of UT?

(full disclosure: I am a UT grad.)

Completely false. What a load of garbage. Newsflash: UT isn't the center of the universe.

Whoa, back up here. My question has nothing to do with UT being the center of the universe. It's a specific issue between the UT and Rice baseball teams. After Rice won the National Championship (which I was very happy and excited about) there was a lot of trash talk from Rice fans that was directed at UT, your signature for example. Now fast-forward to the the 2004 season. UT is 3-0 against Rice. My question is, is it possible that UT's baseball players feel they have a little extra motivation to beat Rice because of some of the things that were said after the CWS last year? I think it's a legitimate question.

I think the UT players are more motivated by being embarrassed by Rice on the field last year than the taunting.

Other players and fans make UT the center of the universe by flashing the "Horns Down" sign during games in which UT isn't even playing.

Doesn't one of Rice's championship shirts mention Texas in it? Something like "I wasn't at the cws final, but neither was Texas."
