Stockton (and Malone) come off of Utah's payroll after this season.

Why in h*** would they want Rice (who has yet to play 1 minute this season) who's contract is $9+m for next season? Or Moochie whose contract runs until the end of the 2006-2007 season? Or a pick which Memphis has first claim to and isn't not likely to be a good one in the future?

This idea is pathetic. If we want/need Stockton that bad, offer him the MCE next summer.

We don't want Stockton. When Yao Ming finally gets acclimated to the NBA and when the offense finally starts clicking the way Rudy T wants it to we will not need a classic pass first point guard. Passing and assists will become a team concept much like in Sacramento. Yao Ming, Steve and Cat could all end up with 4 or 5 assists a game and everyone on the team will benefit.

Why would you want a 40 year old PG? And we have a starting PG.
