I just heard on the radio that Rice had played Marshall at Reliant Arena so i looked up attendance and its only 258 damn is that deplorable. Community colleges pull in more then that. Why not just play at a high school gymb if your gonna pull that many people... I know autry is getting renovated but why for 258 people?

I doubt the semester has started yet. That's probably the reason.

No kids in school = poor attendance

Go to Hofheinz and watch a real team.

PS Rice is also playing games in the Merrill Center in Katy.

lol a real team at Hofheinz? You mean a real team that Rice consistently whips?

I'm pretty sour on Rice basketball right now. We need to get rid of our current coach and bring in JVG immediately. JVG attends many Rice baseball games and lives right nearby Rice. Sign him up...

That's not a bad idea, Man I would feel bad for Willis for hanging in for so many years and then getting the the boot as renovations finish

the comets could beat the owls even if they were playing without a girl.

[pause for the regular comeback of- "o yeah? omaha, baby!" get back to me when you actually have a respectable athletics department, and a different comeback for that matter.]

that game at rice last year where they 'beat' uh was one of the most terribly called games that I have ever seen (keep in mind im a lifelong rockets fan and I see yao get mugged on a regular basis. throw in the fact that at autry court, i cant believe rice hasnt gotten in big trouble for illegally seating their students behind the visiting team's bench, an obvious violation of ncaa rules.

    ruck fice.

Feel bad for Willis? I feel bad for those that have had to watch his teams play "basketball."

At the beginning of this year, I was hoping this would be his "Hatfield season" where his team's performance at the university became such an embarrassment that del Conte had no choice but to fire him, subsequently semi-revitalizing the program. It's nice knowing he has a good chance to be fired after this season, but man...basketball's so bleak right now. There's not even a good team in this city...

I busted my a$$ in HS and was accepted, no bs. I just got a better deal at UH. I personally enjoyed getting a full ride (plus) as opposed to hanging out with kids who drive around in their parents bmw's without a worry in the world while im busting my ass to make it through school and actually work.

I was just joking with ya.

Actually, I was thisclose to going to A&M over Rice.

The picture you paint of Rice sounds really nice. If only the stereotypes were true...(I think you just described SMU :p )

actually, ill second that! (going to SMU to watch UH play them in football- one of the rudest experiences ever.)

and as for rice, ill be fair, one of my best friends from HS went there, as well as a few other nice acquaintances, so ill be fair and not call all of them snooty. ;)

Anybody going to the game tonight? If only 200 show up we should be able to get some sweet seats to watch the game.

I've met Willis a couple of times (actually had a long talk with him at one of the two beatdowns Lamar gave the Rice baseball team during their national championship year), and he's a really good guy, seems like a hard worker, and probably should be kept around in the athletic department in some capacity. The man is just a bad coach. His teams look awful if they don't have a talent the level of Morris Almond. I would be surprised not to see Bob Marlin on the Rice sideline next year.

Why are people bashing Rice? Unless you go to the dump known as UH.

I'll be going to tonight's game against Memphis.

I went last night and I think there were more NBA scouts than fans there. Also was not that impressed with the outside shooting by Memphis.

Rice is too CHEAP to spend $$$ on their athletics. It's not like they don't have the means. They could have had Larry Coker or better but instead they hired the coach from TSU for a $400k a year. I think some Div. II schools pay their coaches more.
