http://www.autoblog.com/2010/06/08/man-busted-by-traffic-camera-gets-unique-revenge-on-police-depar/ It goes without saying, but we're gonna go ahead and say it anyway: Nobody likes getting a speeding ticket. And that's especially true when said ticket isn't issued by a human officer, but from a machine set up to catch unwary motorists off guard. If only there was some way to get back that lost sense of justice... 1,911diggsdigg One man from Bluff City, Tennessee came up with a rather inventive way of sticking it back to The Man. It seems that the officer in charge of the Bluff City Police Department's website had gone on sick leave, and nobody noticed when the time came to renew the PD's URL. Whoops. Computer network designer Brian McCrary, who received a $90 ticket from a speed camera earlier in the year, saw a unique opportunity and seized it, picking up the domain rights from Go Daddy. Want to know what the Bluff City Police Department's old website looks like now? Of course you do. New WEBSITE LOL
thats funny..but Gee...heres a thought...if you don't want a speeding ticket..DON'T SPEED. The guy may be ticked at the PD, but he really only has himself to blame.
^ Exactly. I love how the snippet of the article says "a machine set up to catch unwary motorists off guard." Unwary? So they don't know they're breaking the law? Funny to squat on domains. Not funny to break the law, gentlemen.
I believe the guy was more concerned about calling out the PD for practically developing a system to pilfer money from citizens and drivers in Bluff City rather than the stinky hassle of his speeding ticket. I mean, obviously a police dept exists to suck money from its denizens.
Usually I agree with you, but I got a ticket from one of the cameras recently when I had been driving on a road for several miles and there had been no speed limit sign on the road the whole way. I was driving what I guessed the speed limit to be based on the speed limit of similar roads, but it turned out I was going 10 mph over.
^^ Did you even attempt to argue this with a jury or judge? Maybe you missed a sign? The speed limit is the last sign you see on that road.
