Not sure if this has been up for discussion yet.....but after watching Willy Wonka last night, I thought I'd check to see if all of the child actors went on to have successful acting careers.....and of course they didn't. But to my amazement, they are remaking Charlie And The Chocolate Factory......and it stars Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka.
He's not underrated any more. He's winning awards every time out and was just on a ass-kissing Actor's studio interview.
A thread about this earlier prompted one of the funniest posts ever posted here....Mrs. JB (johnny depp fan-extrordanaire) said: Johnny Depp + Chocolate = Greatest movie ever! seriously, that's just funny!
its not going to be a musical? that was like the best part when they did the parodies in family guy and futurama, are they going to deny future parodies in the future? seriously, i do miss the lack of music in kids movies these days, wth are they thinking?
Depp really is one of the great actors of our time. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is his best work IMO. The similarities between him and Hunter S Thompson were so close it was scary.
Whoa...Slow down there cowboy...I enjoy his work, but the Best??? Don't think so... I would rather put Dinero or Pachino before JD...Hell, even Hackman is great...
Depp has said that even to this day he can't stop talking like Thompson. He has to conciously "act" like he doesn't talk like Thompson. Weird but interesting. This remake has to potential to rule all or suck 'em.
I'm going to put on JD's movie BLOW tonight for my g/f she has never watched it. Then afterwards I'm going to tell her to blow me...Or hell even maybe during the movie.
Johnny Depp is a really good actor and all, but he is a horrible choice for Willy Wonka. Gene Wilder was a great choice and a good embodiment of this character would be a similar subject. Johnny Depp just isn't it.
I heard a while back that Christpoher Walken was going to get the part. He is spooky as hell and can sing & dance. That would of been my choice. But remaking the movie is stupid anway.
If you want to make it really fun, try doing some blow everytime it's done in the movie. Now that's a complete movie watching experience.
I have the DVD to Willy Wonka (Gene Wilder) What's really cool about it is the additional commentary soundtrack: they got all the kids (now grown up) into the same room to watch the flick and comment about the making of it. Super cool. -- droxford
