Hey guys. Go sign the petition to get JR Richard's jersey retired by the Astros. Ray Kerby of AstrosDaily.com is working on it and it is a good cause. Richard was an AWESOME pitcher who really went through some tough times later in life. He deserves it.

I signed it last week. It's the right thing to do.

Lets go people!!! Only 90 people have signed so far.

I saw a story on J.R. a few years ago on TV. He was living under a bridge in Houston, yet he was going to a church and helping needy people. Unbelievable.

    Thanks Jeff

Then you missed what could have been one of the greatest pitchers of all time.

JR was a dominating right hander. Together with Nolen Ryan and Joe Niekro, they formed a formidable trio for any team to face in a three game series. Imagine coming to Houston for three games...You faced JR's 100 mph fastball and wicked...no, I mean WICKED....slider in game one, a 75mph knuckler floating around in game two, followed by Ryan's 100mph fastball and curve in game three.

But it was not meant to be.

It would be nice if Scott Elarton changed uniform numbers in support of Richard making way for his jersey retirement.

I just want to thank everyone from this forum who has signed the "Honor J.R." petition. We are almost up to 200!

Hopefully we can get some press before the season starts.
