Monte Carlo - Americans Lance Armstrong and Serena Williams were named Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year on Tuesday by the Laureus World Sports Academy.

Cyclist Armstrong, the four-time Tour de France champion, is looking for a record-equalling fifth win this year.

The Texan was voted ahead of other sporting greats: Brazilian soccer star Ronaldo, Germany's Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher and Armstrong's compatriot - golfer Tiger Woods.

Armstrong claims his second Laureus award, having won the World Comeback of the Year award three years ago.

Tennis star Williams holds all four grand slam titles and will seek to defend her French Open title when the tournament begins next week.

Williams edged out Britain's marathon world record holder Paula Radcliffe, American sprint star Marion Jones and Croatia's Olympic and world champion skier Janica Kostelic.

Ronaldo, who attended the awards ceremony in Monaco, claimed the World Comeback award and World Team award on behalf of World Cup winners Brazil.

Newcomer of the Year went to China's Yao Ming, the Houston Rockets basketball star.

South African golfing legend Gary Player was given the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Laureus Academy is made up of more than 40 famous sportsmen and women, including Boris Becker, Bobby Charlton, Martina Navratilova, Nadia Comaneci, Emerson Fittipaldi, and John McEnroe. - Sapa-AP

I know. I was checking that thread at work. It caused me an embarassment when I opened it and found the ponographic picture! Plus my work place has a policy not using the computer for ponographic material!!!

How can I know that a basketball MB will have that kind of picture?

I will not be able to check the site from work again.
Thanks to that moron.

    He should be banned.
