I think I mentioned this in recent threads, but since it got a big update today, I decided to make a thread about it. Here's the site: http://www.projectabraham.com/ It seems like this all takes place shortly before the events in R1. From what I could gather, this project in Alaska (called "Project Abraham") was created to help find a cure for the "influenza outbreak" in Europe. The medical staff tests out potential cures on 7 US soldiers who volunteered for the project (one soldier may look very familiar ). One soldier has already been injected with a serum, and of course, things didn't go as expected. 3 of the remaining 6 solider have been picked as the next best candidates, and it looks like we have to make the choice on who gets injected next. Lots of videos, letters, profiles, etc., on the site, and I'm sure we'll get a lot more in the upcoming weeks. I don't usually have the patience to put clues together like in other ARGs, but I think this does a good job of filling out the backstory for the Resistance franchise, much like the R1 websites did for the original (although it seems this project has a bigger budget behind it).
I freaking love Insomniac Games, and I am big-time looking forward to this game. I can't wait for more info to come out about this game. It should be incredible.
I'd rather Resistance 2 be the Resistance 2 for the PS3. Spoiler Killzone 2 can be the Halo 3. Screens of what? BTW, apparently there is another site with this ARG project. Not sure how people find them (well, the name makes sense, but I don't know how someone bothered to try it): http://www.americafirstamericaonly.com/ The Cubs win their 3rd straight World Series.
...Resistance 2! Something cool looking. For some reason I can't stand watching videos of games, especially video game reviews. The reviewer always sounds nasal-y and annoying.
But how could I relate it to the ARG...unless.... Maybe Cassie was infected and became the 300 foot tall monster. There does seem to be a resemblance: She didn't kill Hale in the E3 video since she remembered their time together in Alaska... OK, I don't think I'll even try to go any further than that.
Ideally both games will be great (certainly appears that way so far), and fans of both games can be happy.
Thanks for the find RC. It would be great to get gigs making videos like that. I liked the wiz kid's interview. I tried voting for the guy who doesn't fear anything cause he looks like a douche bag but it doesn't look like he is going to get picked. I wonder if they are going to get an actor for Hale. His file photo looks real.
I haven't voted, but I probably would have voted for Oster too for the same reason. Although depending on exactly what happens when they get injected, the other two might be more interesting I suppose. I think they did get an actor for Hale. Along with the profile picture, he's also in this picture (which is also in the original game, believe it or not): I didn't really care for the character of Hale in the original, but under these circumstances, I actually am pretty interested in learning more about him. I would really be interested in the interview video, which I assume would be uploaded later on...or maybe not depending on the circumstances I suppose.
Not directly related to the ARG stuff, but this new R2 video does show off a lot of new things: http://www.insidegamer.nl/playstation3/resistance2/videos/8101 Maybe even better than anything they showed at E3.
Not sure where they came from or what they offer (yet), but two more sites: http://americafirstamericaonly.com/archives.htm# http://terminal-srpa.net/
Site has been updated with the results of the voting as well as other little things here and there. Just a warning that the video showing the injection is pretty graphic.
Some people found a login for the terminal I linked to earlier, and these images were found: http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/robertphi/SRPA_DK62462A7_reverselayer.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/robertphi/SRPA_DK62462A7_layer.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/robertphi/xx458200.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/robertphi/xx458199.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/robertphi/xx458198.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/robertphi/citylist.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/robertphi/sp2321.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/robertphi/sp2322.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/robertphi/fr8534.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/robertphi/fr8535.jpg Several pictures of new marine Chimera, as well as an autopsy of a Chimera that seemingly didn't need cooling vents unlike other specimans. A bit of info regarding Brown and the stuff he did in Europe. Also a list of Russian cities and the last time there was contact with them (goes back to early 1920s).
The Greatest Hits lineup hit this week too, so I'm finally going to pick up Resistance 1 for $29.99. I've been looking forward to playing this game, but my gaming budget is light these days. My brother-in-law is also going to loan us his 48" HDTV for a while next week (he's 4 weeks on\off with an oil compnay in Angola and is staying with my in-laws for a while and doesn't need it). I am a bit worried about not being able to go back to a normal TV afterwards, but hopefully HDTV's will come down in price by next year. Time to get my game on!
Another update. Oster was the "lucky" guy. In his injection video, he kind of went crazy and attacks the staff. A soldier had to shoot him in the head to stop him. The sad thing? He didn't even get the injection. These were his own actions. Maybe this was there earlier, but a lot of the various profiles have updated info (including Hale's of course). I was joking earlier about a possible relationship between Cassie and Nathan Hale, but the latest audio tape does seem to suggest there might be something between them. Guess I should have known... I'm sure there is some other secret stuff too, but I can never find a way to access it on my own. edit: Oh yeah, forgot that they sent out phone calls too, assuming you gave them your number.
