A friendly word of advice to the other students out there. Don't wait til two the night before a research paper is due to start. Tonight I didn't follow this advice. ARKOE
please. process explanation for tech writing due at 8 am, f4p doesn't start until after midnight, finished 9 pages by about 6, somehow pulls a 95. same class, earlier. had an environmental impact study due, midnight the day before its due (as in 31 hours before its due, not 8) i had 6 lines typed, ended up being 14 pages. only pulled a 179/200 on that. people are impressed by my procrastination abilities. those were my two highest grades too, maybe i shoulda procrastinated like that on all the other stuff. despite these experiences, i still don't recommend it. i have a formal lab report i need to turn in by 7 pm tomorrow, haven't done any of it. best get started pretty soon instead of wasting my time here with you people.
Until you get an A on a paper that you write in the library, at lunch, the day that it is due, you don't know what procrastination is.
I always do my best when I procrastinate. I think that whenever I feel pressured and have my back against the wall, I just perform better. I can't think of a time when I ever finished a paper with more than 4 hours to spare. I usually get good grades in English, though in highschool it wasn't easy finding time on a computer. In college, with my own trusty laptop, I easily got an A on all of my papers, even the final which was pretty long.
Hahaha, too late bud. I have a presentation and paper on the Italian contribution to the evolution to guitar IN ITALIAN....when did I start. Due nella matina. C'e la vita, eh?
Yes, papers suck, but I got an even better one for you guys. A group research paper! There are 3 people in my group: a woman I work with, some other chick, and me. Well, guess what? I along with the woman I work with have done our parts, but yesterday evening, the other chick had yet to get started with her stuff. Needless to say, the chick I work with and myself were "not amused". This other chick promised the woman I work with that she would get her part done and then integrate everything into one big paper. We are going to call her today and see how it went. If she still has not done her part, then I think it will be time to call the teacher and tell him about this bulllsh!t. Hey, I understand about procrastination better than anyone because I do it all the time. However, when others are counting on you like in a group paper, then you don't do **** like procrastinating your part. She is probably too busy getting her freak on until the break of dawn with her boyfriend as they just got a house together but yet it is still going to be several months before they tie the knot.
Luckily i am not in College yet, and dont have to do a research paper, but i still hate writing papers on books we read! I hate group projects the most, everytime i am in a group project someone doesnt do there damn part! It pisses me off!
Three 18x24 drawings, a 5x5 piece, a gallery critique paper, and a photo project for my art classes: all due Wednesday. I haven't started any of them yet. What am I doing? Same thing I did all through high school- talking to you guys.
Ever written a 15 page paper worth 40% of your final grade over a book you haven't read, after having not slept in 2 days . . . the night before and the morning of its being due? Do some searches on things like "sleep" and "procrastination" . . . there have been some GREAT stories on here.
i know, i hate not being able to procrastinate with the group projects, although it was pretty sweet to have a paper done this year 4 days before it was due. i wasn't sure what to do with myself. and then this last group paper, i kept asking my partners when we would be getting together and it just kept getting later and later (but one girl said she had done some of it) and then we meet like 3 days before and that girl had written 26 PAGES!!! almost the whole freakin thing. i couldn't believe my luck. i mean we were still working on it at midnight the night before it was due with them kicking us out of the computer lab but damn i caught a break. some of you other people with your day of stuff during school is crazy, do y'all get A's? i mean i worry more about my grades than i want to so even i have limits on my procrastination, and yet i still seem to out-procrastinate everyone i know. about the worst i did on day of stuff is when i would wait until the day of AP biology tests w/o having read the chapters and then just read the 5 page chapter summaries during my first 3 classes and lunch. but this was the last semester of high school when grades didn't count so i had a reason. it was weird cuz i almost got higher A's that semester than the first semester when i was trying.
dont post online at 10:52 on monday april 29th... when you have a calc project to do that is due tuesday april 30 that basically involves having examples and definitions from everything we've done this year......... francis 4 prez.. as a senior in hs right now. i know about that bio ap test stuff and waiting til last second lol my parents are convinced the internet will be my downfall lol..
No, don't wait until two. You need to start by ten if you're going to get a good night's work in. And that's for minor papers; if it involves extensive library research, start exactly 24 hours before it's due, and (I hate to say it) have your sources picked out and some rough notes made up before that. Papers, however, should be done at night. That's what nights are for. Imagine how much time they would take up if you did them during your regular waking hours. You can sleep when you're done. (Exams, on the other hand, I would be more careful about.) Now back to mine... it's not due until Friday, but if I don't have it done I won't graduate. This is the big mother of all nasty homework assignments... a doctoral dissertation.
You guys are rookies when it comes to procrastination. Check out my story. Me and my partner have a feasibility study due on a Thursday. We havent done crap till Wednesday. For those of you who dont know, a feasibility study can easily get up to 50-75 pages!!!!!!!!!!!! And this was like 60% of our grade for this one particular class! My partner comes over my house 10:00 am on Wednesday. We get started right away and figure we would get done by 6:00 pm. Well its six o'clock and we figure "hey we'll be done by 10:00 pm" and have plenty of time to sleep. Soon its 10:00 pm and we are like "crap! hopefully we will be done by 1 or 2 am". Soon its like 4 FREAKIN AM! By that time we know we still arent close to being done. 5am, 6am ....9am, 10am, 11:00 am is when we finally get done!!!! 25 hours straight of writing a boring ass paper. It was 65 pages long and we had a presentation on the paper at noon. We barely make it to class on time and both of us fell asleep in class as other groups were making their presentation. I've never felt so crappy in my life. We ended up making a B on a paper.
yeah feasibility studies rule. that was the paper i was talking about where the other girl wrote 26 pages. ours turned out to be 41 pages (with a BS 4 page appendix that was just charts pasted from the report) and was way longer than the sample she gave us. we better get a good grade. all hope was lost for an A in that class a long time ago. all of a sudden hope has returned if we get a good grade on that, a good one for the presentation we did last monday, she regrades two things and gives anything back, and if she lets maybe an 88.5 be an A. i think i deserve an A just for showing up for a MWF 8 am class everytime until now. of course attendance is required and i usually got there at 8:30 just to sign in but still.
What is a feasbility study? Is that like a case study? I know f4p is an engineering (chemical - ?) major, but what major are you, R0ckets03? You guys are scaring me with this 40 to 75 pages ****.
Am I the only one on this board who did his homework ahead of schedule? I hated having papers or research hanging over my head when I wanted to have fun. I always got my work done as quickly as possible, then partied all night while you guys were still working!
Well I always find that my papers suck when I do them early, I write my best stuff when I'm up against a deadline...
f4p- You wouldn't happen to have Hurley for 333T now would you? And it sounds like you may have Dr. Ruth for 153K... Let me guess- you're a 4th or 5th semester ChE at UT? If so, I have some sound advice about the rest of major sequence.
