A friend of mine who is Canadian was sent a letter from the citizenship and immigration office for a Biometrics appointment on the 13th of June. Unfortunately he is overseas right now and is supposed to be gone for the whole summer. You are given the option to mail back the notice requesting a rescheduling. The only problem is that he is unsure on when they will reschedule him (he would rather just fly back to attend the appointment if they give him a new appointment which is more than 6 months from now). Does anyone know how far out they typically reschedule these appointments? Is there a way I can go down to their Sugar Land office tomorrow and see when they would reschedule him? The USCIS 1-800 number is useless.
I think the reschedule is 3 months typically but you can reschedule like three times as far as I know the rules may have changed since they change like everyday now on immigration and USCIS.
Last year, a friend of mine just plain missed her biometrics appointment... without filing any paperwork, etc. They sent her a reschedule notice without her doing anything.
USCIS is usually not very strict when it comes to rescheduling the biometrics appointment. If your friend sends a request to reschedule the appointment, it will be done within 90 days. Even if your friend does not send a rescheduling notice, it will probably be done automatically for him.If he is scheduled yet again during a time that he is not available, he may continue to reschedule it. Attaching a letter explaining his situation may help as well.
