Why are people selling used goods at full market value? Why would I buy your used Smith machine at the same price Academy is selling it brand new? Why do sites like craigslist, ebay and such allow businesses to advertise things at full value? I thought the whole point was people selling stuff they don't need or want anymore. Where are the deals in 2023? WHY ARE WEIGHTS SO EXPENSIVE? This question also falls under the "why would I pay for your used stuff when it's the same price as brand new stuff" umbrella.
Because there are stupid people buying things out there at overpriced values in everything. If you think it's overpriced, then don't buy it. Leave the victims to victimize themselves. BTW, this has been going on for years. I used to see people on auction sites bid more for used stuff than if they went and got it new. It was bizarre. Or if something cost $100 new, I'd see bids for $95 on a similar used item. Now if you don't mind, I'm going to go look at my crypto, NFTs, stocks, sports cards, and comic books. Bye.
Word lol I had to give my stuff away when I moved. Pretty much a full home gym. Now I have everything settled and I want it back lol... that was like 4 years ago. Prices done went through the dang roof!
Pre-Covid. Used inventory of weights vanished during the pandemic. I loaned a friend some extra weights during the pandemic and his gratitude was like he witnessed the birth of another child. As for people paying more: it's always like that. People pay $1k+ for a pair of ****ing jeans with holes in them. eBay thrives on people selling and buying things above Amazon prices. Marketing, habits, ignorance, perception; it all comes into play. You can't rationalize the way other people shop, it's just how it is.
ahhhhh right. Because gyms were closed. Well at least that part makes sense now. Thanks XB So I bought a new bench, 300 lb weight set and bars today....
