    Hello Everyone

Normally I do not do this, but I am compelled to do so this year. A close friend of mine is participating in the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure again this year. He will be doing the Metric Century (or 62 miles) in Phoenix, AZ. He started to do the Tour de Cure last year as one of his family members died from diabetes. I wanted to help him raise funds this year for the cause as it appears that my grandmother will also pass on later this year due to diabetes.

I am trying to reach out to everyone here who has a loved one or a dear friend who has diabetes to help donate to find a cure for this ailment that affects so many millions of people. You can donate as little as 5 dollars or as much as you want. I am not getting anything out of this, nor is my friend (actually he may get a pair of tour de cure socks to wear the day of), but all the proceeds go to help find a cure and fight diabetes

Please go to http://main.diabetes.org/goto/Shreyas to donate.

You will find a link there that will take you to a secure page where you can donate. You will receive an email with your receipt of the donation and the necessary tax information needed if you wish to claim the donation to a charity for your 2011 tax filing.

Also if you guys can please spread the word as well to any family, friends, coworkers in anyway possible, email, twitter, facebook etc. or can use the link above or go on the American Diabetes Association's frontpage to donate.

    Thank You and Go Rockets,

    The_Yoyo

*I asked Clutch ahead if I could post something like this he was okay with it since its for a great cause...Thanks again

Hit him with $50. Good cause.

Thanks Clutch for letting him post this.

Edit: To further assist this young man in his fundraising goals, I'll rep anyone who contributes to the fund. (unless Clutch or an admin tells me I can't do that. )

Thank you!! My father suffers from it as well but he takes really good care of himself now, my grandmother though living in a remote village in India it was harder for her to get all the necessary knowledge and medicine needed to do so.

Once again, though I shouldnt be amazed at the generousity of the people here whats makes this place so special.

I meant to mention that, too. Would probably generate more money to have that option.

    thanks SwoLy for the bump

my friend called me last night and was shocked at the donations, including myself people on CF have donated over 250 dollars to his cause. He was kind of choked up man it meant a lot to him. I thought only one of his parents had diabetes, but it turns out a good portion of his family does so it really means a lot to him. His initial goal of 500 dollars (he is at 412 right now) should be easily met as he has yet to ask any of his own family members to help out. He actually bumped up his goal to 1000 now not 500. Last year he said he had a tough time hitting 500 hopefully with the continued support of people here and others he can hit 1000. If you can donate please do and if you cant please at least pass the link along to those you may.

    thanks!

Don't Indian and Pakistani peeps have large families like we Mexicans do?

If all 30+ of each of my cousins from my generation on my mother's side only would give at least $34, I'd make that goal.
