I haven't paid much attention to the Republican races. Can some republicans enlighten me why you chose and continue to choose Bush over Mc Cain? He seems to be a better man in a lot of respect.
as a former republican, i would have taken McCain over kerry and bush. But its too late, Bush has redefined what republicans stand for, and i can no longer stand with them on all issues.
at this point, this is a non-issue. one is the incumbent president...that's the guy the party is going with.
I agree with MadMax, however, it would have been interesting to see McCain run for the nomination against Bush, as Ted Kennedy did against Jimmy Carter in 1980.
You don't run against a sitting incumbent, no matter how much of a schmuck he is. Good find on the issue of Chappaquidick Teddy running against Carter to provide an exception to that rule.
Didn't some electorate give Reagan a vote over Ford in the 76 election? That was a pretty good example of why the incumbant might not always be the better choice. Ford, for his act of pardoning Nixon(doesn't matter whether he's right or wrong), made him just a bad candidate.
I thought you were asking retrospectively, like why didn't they make that choice in 2000. It's too late now, the point is moot.
Because he fathered a Black child in South Carolina. And didn't he rat out some of our own while he was a wimpy POW in Vietnam? At least that's what Karl Rove told me...
The Republican leadership loves Bush because they can dangle a banana in front of him, and he'll do whatever they say.
I don't think that was too hilarious, no matter what ideological stripe someone has. A man's home is his castle and I would have greeted the protesters with my paintball gun and pepperspray. I don't care what you feel about Rove, you still have to respect his right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Tresspassing is not a right as disturbing the peace is not a right. Your rights end where mine begin and for them to do that to Rove is just childish and stupid. March 29, 2004, 10:51PM Demonstrators take protest to Rove's doorstep By JULIE MASON Copyright 2004 Houston Chronicle Washington Bureau WASHINGTON -- Springtime in the nation's capital brings cherry blossoms, tourists, and this year, swarms of protesters to the home of White House adviser Karl Rove. "We don't wait around, we go straight to the people in power," said Tracy Van Slyke, communications officer for National People's Action, an advocacy group based in Chicago. The group visits Washington each year for its national conference, where members meet with lawmakers and agency officials and stage demonstrations to call attention to their issues. Most organizations with a cause to champion or protest do so with permits and police supervision in the city's public spaces. Not so for National People's Action. And this year, it was Rove's turn. More than a dozen yellow school buses filled with demonstrators paid a house call to Rove on Sunday afternoon. The boisterous group gathered in the yard of his tony northwest Washington home and sent a delegate to knock on the door. They were there to highlight what they termed Bush administration foot-dragging on the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act, or DREAM. The bill, now languishing in the Senate, would allow young immigrants who have lived at least five years in this country to apply for legal residency after they graduate from high school. Van Slyke said the demonstration quickly escalated to confrontation. "We got there and we had whistles and signs, and when we got to the front door, he yelled at us to get off his property," she said. Police and Secret Service agents arrived, and began brokering talks between demonstrators and Rove, who remained inside his house. Van Slyke said the group agreed to move off the property if Rove would speak with a couple of the organization's leaders. "He met with our two co-chairs in the garage, for about two minutes. Basically what he wanted to do was say that we had scared his kid," Van Slyke said. White House spokesman Taylor Gross said Rove accommodated the demonstrators' request to talk. qalink
That's awesome. I'm not sure I'd use pepper spray, but your paintball idea is brilliant! If I ever have problems with neighborhood kids, I'm definitely gonna paste their asses pink!
Some local hoods kept bashing my mailbox to smithereens. I rigged an ambush one night and paintballed their truck. They then had the bright idea of trying to get out of the truck to chase me down. Needless to say, they looked as if they'd been dipped in Pepto Bismol!
Are you calling George Bush a schmuck or John McCain? All I have to say is John McCain has more courage and principle in his fingernail than all of the Bush sons, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Paul Wolfowitz, Donald Rumsfeld, and Marc Racicot combined.
Okay, so let's ask retrospectively: how the hell did GWB get the nomination over McCain? This baffles me and pisses me off. McCain is ten times the man GWB is and would have made a fine, possibly excellent, president. How did it happen?
