Would love to see Yao just one more time in a Rockets uniform.

Yao can take on the Deke role.

The student has now become the master.

I am afraid Yao with one leg will cost more than that...

I would offer him one last chance why not/. what you got to lose?. If we assume he wont return and build the team accordingly and he actualy does comeback and gives us 15 minutes of quality ball a night, what have you got to lose?

Stop being a YOF, Spiegel, and think about the whole team. Yao takes up too much of the training staff's time for rehab. Rockets would be further ahead by spending that time on developing the younger players.

    Yao's ship has sailed.

It might be better for the Rockets to keep Yao...

Rockets get back .80c on the dollar from Nov 10th? Would Yao's insured contract allow the Rockets to go further into LT?

    That is,

Trade involving Yao = Deal away assets + reduce/get under LT

Yao not involved in trade = Deal away assets + ability to add on more salary?

Very interesting ... Yao being vocal about this makes me think that he almost certainly signed off on having his contract traded to help the Rockets. Does he want to play again someday???... of course. Will he be able to play next season???... no way in hell, at least not without restrictions.

Trading a contract, although done on almost half NBA deals, looks really bad for cost cutting teams, and they the team trading for Yao will need some hope that he will be part of their franchise.

Yao is done... at least another year of rehabing is necessary and I dont see Yao being very anxious to get back on the court if he is going to be injured again this easily.

Yao and the Rockets staff are just downplaying the injury in order to get a deal done to move his contract for assets.

Good to hear but it doesn't matter what he thinks about retirement, what matters is what that foot "thinks" about playing.
