I didn't see that this was posted but if it is, lock it up. Bowl bid boosts stock of coach already paid well LOS ANGELES -- With Texas preparing for its first Rose Bowl appearance, university officials are working up a new contract with a raise for coach Mack Brown. "We like what we've got," Texas Athletic Director DeLoss Dodds told the Associated Press on Monday. "He's done a wonderful job with the program." Dodds said that details would be announced later in the week but that Brown would get a raise on a salary that currently pays him slightly more than $2 million per year. He is one of the highest-paid coaches in college football. Brown's assistants also could get a raise. Brown was at practice Monday morning and, through a spokesman, declined comment. Although Brown has been criticized for a five-game losing streak to Big 12 South rival Oklahoma, Texas (10-1) has won at least 10 games the last four seasons and has become a regular fixture among the top 10 in the Associated Press rankings during his seven-year tenure. The Rose Bowl will also be Texas' first appearance in a Bowl Championship Series game. The Longhorns meet No. 13 Michigan (9-2) on Jan. 1. link: I am not a Texas fan but I am a little surprised by this. I thought that losing to OU as much as they had would be Mack's undoing, but apparently not. It sure isn't like that at other places - Jim Donnan found out the hard way at Georgia what happens when you can't beat Florida. So, Mack haters, you are going to have to put up with him for a little bit longer. Maybe DeLoss Dodds retires soon and the new AD cans him.

Its deserved since he got us to the Rose Bowl. But I'll be damned if that doesn't mean Greg Davis will be sticking around for a while longer than hoped!
who doesnt like me? i am amicable, and nice, and great, funny, talented, a hell of a basketball and football player. what I meant in my post was that these coaches, all 117 coaches, are suppose to get to these games. getting to a holiday bowl is nice, i suppose, but you are trying to get to the upper tier games.
10 year extension!!! holy-freakin-moly!!!!! get used to him, he's there for a loooonnggggg time...........
His old contract only ran through 2011, so clearly extending that deal immediately was an important step to the future of the UT community. You don't want to wait to the 11th hour for these things.
I believe you have the syntax correct. First I wrecked myself, but recovered nicely to check myself. Sucker MCs do call me "sire", so there you have it.
I think Mack is doing an alright job... it took JoePa and Bobby Bowden some years before they won a Natty Champ... give Brown some time he already has the talent.
Yes, but they were at least winning conference championships. Mack hasn't won one in 21 years. When he was at UNC he couldn't beat Florida State and now that he at Texas he can't beat Oklahoma.
