What a surprise... http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2168802 Oakland County (Mich.) Prosecutors are planning to ask for probation and community service for three Indiana Pacers players involved in an infamous brawl with the Detroit Pistons at The Palace in Auburn Hills, according to story posted on USA Today's Web site. Prosecutors could have sought jail time at a pre-trial hearing Friday for Pacers Ron Artest, Jermaine O'Neal and Stephen Jackson. The three are charged with assaulting Pistons fans during the melee. Officials stopped the game last Nov. 19 with 45.9 seconds remaining after pushing and shoving between the teams spilled into the stands and fans began throwing things at the players near the scorer's table. John Pietrofesa, assistant prosecutor for Oakland County in suburban Detroit, said his office will go befere judge Lisa Asadoorian and seek probation and approximately 50 hours of community service each for the three players, reported USA Today. Pietrofesa said the three could satisfy the comunity service requirements by talking to children in Michigan and Indiana. "I don't think we want to humiliate anybody by saying go pick up trash on some road. But having them work with kids, hopefully a lot of kids, would be a positive," Pietrofesa told USA Today.
