Can anyone tell me why the Rockets haven't taken the bull by the horns in the back and forth negotiation with Hakeem and just renounce him? If the Rockets truly are most concerned about signing their own free agents, and one 38 year old free agent is holding up the show for all others, why not simply renounce your rights to him, sign the other free agents you have set your sights on, and let the chips fall where they may when it comes to Dream. If they have enough $$ to sign him when they're done, fine. If not, it tells me that Dream wanted to leave all along. At the very least it tells me that Dream is not concerned with what is best for the team, long-term.

There's no reason for Dream to place the Rockets franchise in a desperate financial position for years to come by merely wishing to cash in on the last half of last season.

Well it's still not a given that Dream is going to Toronto, and Houston probably wants to see if they can get something of quality in a potential sign-and-trade.

If Sam Perkins and Derrick McKey are all they can come up with, they should have renounced him weeks ago.
