Sorry, I couldn't find the original thread to bump up. MSNBC 7pm central Tonight (Sunday) http://www.msnbc.com/news/916942.asp
Anyone know what time CST and what channel it's going to be on in Time Warner? Please advise Thanks in advanced!
I just checked Direct TV schedule It is on at 7:00 pm CST on MSNBC which if you have DTV is channel 356. NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC ULTIMATE EXPLORER Series premieres Sunday, June 1, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on MSNBC In June 2003 National Geographic's flagship series EXPLORER gets a new look, a new name, and a new high-energy take on documentary filmmaking. The result is Ultimate Explorer, an hour-long, correspondent-driven series hosted by the bold and energetic Lisa Ling. Ultimate Explorer's correspondents immerse themselves in far-flung locations and cultures, investigating critical issues, and presenting highly personal stories that cover the world and all that's in it. This Week's Show Premiering Sunday, June 1, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on MSNBC, Ultimate Explorer and host Ling venture to China to explore the remarkable story of China's most famous export, NBA star Yao Ming. "Basketball Diplomacy: From Mao to Yao" is about far more than basketball—it's about China, about being an immigrant, and about globalization.
Pretty interesting show thus far. Lisa Ling seems like a sweet girl. They showed a clip of Lisa interviewing a Rox exec in their office. Man!! Was that lush!!! The office looked as if it were a conference room for Microsoft!! Its about to start again, I will fill you guys in @ the next break.
Yao's best friend in China was Liu Wei. They interviewed Liu Wei on the show. Seemed like a very nice guy. Yao had just recently sent Liu a gift (new computer to play video games). But what was the most striking was how disciplined the education system seemed. They had some footage of where Yao went to school and the children were amazingly warm but polite. THey also showed clips of the Shanghai Sharks practices. There gyms are like high school gyms (pretty run down).
Faos, I agree 100% This is the Lisa Ling show. How does Lisa feel about interviewing Yao? Where did Lisa's family come from? They even showed her ask a question, and then didn't show the answer, because this must feel that Lisa's questions are more important than what anyone else has to say. Also rather than show the interview with Yao, they kept cutting back to Lisa Ling watching the interview. At one point she said what a good interview she thought it was. Just show the stuff about Yao, and quit making the show about the host.
Where's Yao? She doesn't know what she's talking about. Pretty contrived way for Lisa Ling to get a free trip to China. Cereal Bars? Yao told her to shove off early in the show.
Yao: "Mike Jordan scores 30 points a night, Shaq gets 20 rebounds a night. People expect me to do the same. I'm not Shaq, I'm just a rookie." He said a lot more, thats all I could remember, and its not word for word...
Man, watching Yao speak english for a while was awesome, talking about the pressure on him and what not. I think he took his driver's test at the same place I did. That was cool watching him drive down Westheimer.
Yao crusing down Westheimer. Sweeeet. Says he almost doesn't like it when lots of Chinese and other Asians come to watch the games, since they see him as their "hope" which puts a lot of pressure on him.
Yes that was cool, and the best part of the show so far. Of course while he was talking, Lisa kept trying to interrupt. But still it was great point in the show.
Lisa trying to get Yao to go out was funny too. Now, this SARS stuff shows you how tough things are over there, but at least they have state rap song about how cool masks are. I know there wasn't much Yao in the show, but I enjoyed it. I learned a lot about China in that short hour.
The funniest part of the show had to be when Lisa asked Yao to go out to a night club. Yao replied in perfect English "My mother would kill me!".. HAHAHAHHA!!
