Everyone seems to forget that the NBA plays w/ 1 ball a game and stars like to shoot!! If Francis, Mobley, and Yao dont get enough shots for each other why do some of yall expect Francis, Yao, G. Robinson, Jermaine O'neal etc.. to do better?! I said this once in another thread and ill say it again were tryin to win a championship not assemble an all-star team
Yeah exactly, not the best reason to start a thread, but everyone needs to realize the team we have already has championships written all over it and that getting O'neal is not the answer. Yes we need an enforcer type PF, but give EG a chance before coming up with 3 players for 1 offers. Les's statement on this being one of the best teams ever assembled is accurate.
with the amazing free agent class of next year, why don't the rockets not make any serious moves this year... let's see what these guys can do under JVG. if we turn out another unsuccessful season then we can make some changes, whatever they may be and take a deeper look into guys such as Rasheed Wallace, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, and other Free Agents. In my opinion, 8th seed with a 1st round exit in the playoffs isn't a successful season, esp. with the talent the Rockets have. I know the West is super competitive, but the Francis, Mobely, Ming trio is good enough to beat anyone.
Sorry this will never happen without a new mind set! It can only happen without Roster changes if Francis distributes the ball as a number one priority. Also if JVG forces all the Rockets to play as a Team instead of a group of selfish individuals. Without Roster upgrades they will get into the playoffs but will be only number four in the Mid-West.
I agree with your first statement, and I believe JVG will bring this about, one of the reasons I say this team has championships written all over it. 4th seed you say? Great! Wasn't there a team that was league champion as a 6th seed in '94 or '95, can't remember from what city they were from....
There might be 1 ball but you also want a balanced attack. If the defense knows Yao, Steve, or Mobley are the only offensive weapons on the floor that means that the defense can cheat by not defending the other two Rocket players.
The thread starter makes a good point. Solution: Have two balls on the court in play. Imagine the possibilities. Ray Allen is hot and takes another long range three and then BOOM!!! Out of nowhere, Yao rifles in a 2nd ball and knocks it out of the air like a Patriot Missle. Kind of like when you were a kid and you and your best friend were playing basketball in your driveway and he is stroking it in practice and you keep knocking is ball out of the air. Your friend gets pissed and starts calling your mom bad names. Good times. The best part, would be watching Moochie dribble two balls at once!! Sweet!!!
