remind me..what were the strengths that collier was supposed to possess? What is the reason we got him? Shooting? I know there are already a lot of Collier bashers here ...and I dont mean to play into their hands...I'm asking this without sarcastic intent...Im just wondering what sort of player the rockets hope to develop...a center with longer-range shooting? ------------------
So when steve and cuttino drive in they could throw it back out to Collier since he has range. Collier with his range will take away the centers he is holding. If steve goes in and Shaq is trying to block it then steve passes to collier who has range and he knocks it in. He opens the floor for the players but I dont like Collier. ------------------ "You look a team that's been to the mountaintop like the Houston Rockets, I'm going to put pressure on myself to be the best possible player that I can be. With the pieces they already have in place and myself, we can do some amazing things next season." Maurice Taylor
i say we do what we do to most of our dogs let's sterilize the the collie..... just a random questions dog's are man's best friend... but how many best friends do u nutor<--- sorry on spelling... ------------------ "Wahooo"-homer
Well said Francis3 but so far what am worried about is that the center on the other end will abuse Collier in every way possible, just look at what Robinson did today in a 2 min. span, He totally killed collier... Then again every single rook gets abused at one time or another. ------------------ Life moves pretty fast, If you don't stop and look once in a while you might miss it!! ... Ferris Bueler
Collier made a nice shot that showed his range yesterday. But on the next play he airballed what appeared to be some kind of one handed hook looking shot to the basket. What was that, Jason? He hasn't impressed me much this far. ------------------
The jump shot Collier made was when he was wide open. He missed an easy lay-up due to intimidation. He can't run, can't jump, can't play defense and doesn't sign autographs. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Smokey (edited October 15, 2000).]
Smokey... sure he does. I got him to autograph several things for me and "some friends that liked him" (hehe) on his plane flight from Atlanta to Houston back in July where he was getting ready to play in the Rocky Mountain Revue. He sat one row in front of me on the plane, so I got to talk to him a while and got a few autographs too. It will be at least somewhat valuable guys- don't lose faith in him yet. ------------------ Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? Draftsource.net ClutchTown.com
His main strength is that he can "create" his outside shot. What do I mean by create? Well he sets a pick and then allows Fancis/Mobley to scoot around behind him, if the oppostion center wants to follow then, then Collier slides to an open spot and receives the ball for the open jumper. I'm REALLY impressed (with what I've seen thus far) by Colliers ability to "read" the screen he sets. He seems to know when to slide to the open spot and when the opposition turn their heads to have a quick look at the pentrator he rolls hard to the hoop. He also looks pretty nervous and he's trying a bit too hard and not letting it all come to him naturally, but that's expected of a rookie isn't it? Oh, I forgot to mention, he's a solid rebounder too ------------------
Cat... Im SURE that Collier signed all those autographs for you because he somehow instinctly knew that you were the one at CC.net that was defending him time and time again. And that you swore hed be a force to be reckoned with. ------------------ "I have amazing, powers of observation"...Pink
thanks folks! I'll be looking to see if he comes through on those things...also I hope he will improve his defense - at least against David Robinson.. ------------------
think of him as travis knight in bryant reeves' body. there's potential in there. ------------------ "Isn't the purpose of the game to put the ball in the basket?"
he was scheduled to be at the autograph thing last sunday at the church on pinemont but didnt' show up.. not sure if he went to anohter location instead or what ------------------ Shane "Save Our Rockets" "Life without basketball in Houston........without an arena that is what it will be"
Dreamshake, LOL. I should've thought to mention it. Probably would have been good for about 50 autographs! ------------------ Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? Draftsource.net ClutchTown.com
Hey what kinda minutes is Collie gettin' anyway? Has Rudy even played him that much? (I guess I could go look it up...just askin') ------------------
No defense or ofense, But I guess every rookie have their days, But if collie won't improved before the year ends I'll say let's trade him or get some money for cap room next year. ------------------ Rudy T. will find and fulfill Rockets destiny.
His strength is his ability to chow down Krispy Kreme Donuts... In about 3 months, after being cut by the Rockets, you'll see his fat ass cooking fries at your local Jack In The Box... I wish you luck in your future endeavor Collier... ------------------
kid rock, theres no reason to say that he's that bad. and honestly how many times have you seen him play.
VJ, Like everyone else almost he's probably seen Collier play in 3 or 4 preseason games, which according to probably 3/4 of the posters here is enough to base a player's entire career on! I mean, how could we fail to understand that player's entire careers are determined after a couple of preseason games? Poor us. KidRock, you know all. ------------------ Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? Draftsource.net ClutchTown.com
Plus kidrock; even if he DOES get cut by the rockets, he will have earned a million dollars on his contract AND he'll be able to play pro-ball anywhere else in the world! He definitely won't be cooking fries ------------------
