Remember the hoopla and the "near" deal with Toronto? What if that happens in this case? I still think Orlando is going public with this to up the bids from other teams.
I think in this day and age with internet and up to date info...the only thing that could stop this is if someone can't pass the physical.
There are two things that killed the Stoudamire deal and is the reason you can't compare it to this deal. 1.)It was a trade deadline deal so Houston and Toronto had to rush to do the deal, there is no rush to complete this deal. There is no trade deadline. 2.)Allegedly Jerry West was afraid that Stoudamire would put the Rockets over the top and helped sabotage the deal. That is the rumor, and I can't see anyone that can or will step in and kill this deal. Dallas would come to mind, but Dallas is so enamored with acquiring Shaq that they're probably not worried about Tracy McGrady.
I think he is talking about the results during that season. The Houston Rockets went on to win the first of their back to back championships that year, and Robert Horry played a key role. ; )
