I said earlier to keep an eye out for Boston, and Bass/Joel Anthony Not really your typical rim protectors, but they can at east rebound and play a little defense, and they can fit right in one of the TPE's. Hopefully we can get someone that gets waived first, but I'm assuming a trade for thin air is more likely.
I would love to get Blatche. He's matured a lot since his time with the Wizards and was huge for the Nets last year. He has issues but offensively he's got skills. I would like Okafor off the bench and Billups would be a great to share time with the young PG's.
I agree with Carl Herrera. That FA list is ROUGH. Slim pickens. I think the best thing to do is to find some players on expiring contracts that other teams would prefer not to have. Chuck Hayes is the top of my list as well actually -- I think the Raptors would love to get rid of him. Beyond that, I wonder if there is any chance we could spend some of that FA money on bringing over Papanikolou or Lull. I am not real optimistic on ever seeing Lull come over, but Pop Nickle would be perfect for what we need now with Parsons leaving.
If we dont pull off a trade of signifigance im going to be upset... but me knowing morey i know we will. we still have many moves to make. we have exceptions(although the higher profile targets are gone) and/or cap space. we have assets and ability to grow. i love chandler and even as mad as i am i understand he was way overpaid and ariza is a better fit for the better price. but we still need a lot of help... with our assets and trade exceptions i see some trades coming(plural) as well as a some more signings(plural)... im going to remain optomistic about the rest of the off-season and see how it goes, even though im upset and pessimistic atm...
Thought about the overseas guys, too. Guess it depends on how much they cost, if we are watching out for flexibility next season, how much can we really pay either of them?
i think its better to just sign free agents instead of trading for similar talent. trading requires giving up assets, and i don't think its worth spending our assets on bench players that will probably not be much better than the players remaining in the free agent pool right now.
Stuckey sounds interesting. I remember him being pretty good but idk how he did last season. Jason Smith?
Blatche, Smith or even Oneal on a one year flyer, plus Daniels and Brooks. Keep these guys on a one year contract freeing up cap space for next off season.
Greg Oden is out there too. I'm somewhat intrigued by Stuckey as an instant offense off the bench guy. I know he's had a bad couple of years though.
