June 22, 1994 — Houston defeated New York 90-84 Everybody remembers John Starks abysmal night in Game 7 against the Rockets, but Patrick Ewing wasn't at his best either in the Knicks' loss. (Bill Baptist/NBAE via / FOXSports.com) Everyone remembers John Starks missing all 10 of his 3-point field goal attempts, and missing 16 of his 18 shots. But Knicks superstar Patrick Ewing missed 10 of his 17 shots, and scored just 17 points. Hakeem Olajuwon finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds
So am I just that jaded or is this nothing but the writer saying Ewing and Starks had an 'off' night and that's why they lost? The only mention of the winner doesn't come until the last sentence....
It's something you learn to live with as a Rockets fan. Wanna be even madder? ESPN's Sports Century "1994" recap doesn't even MENTION the Rockets in the final 25 minutes of the program.. and when they DO show the NBA finals that year it is all about how "New York lost it" and not how WE won it.. even during their final montage of the sporting highlights of the year they show the NY Rangers winning their Stanley Cup and OJ Simpson driving a white Bronco. MAKES ME WANT TO PUKE.
