I'd put this in NBA dish, but I think it is very relevant to the proposed NY/Hou trade. Obviously, NY's interest in the proposed trade is centered around clearing space for FA's, but mostly about Lebron.

Question: If Lebron wins a ring this year, does that make him more likely to stay with CLE or leave for NY.

On the one hand, Cleveland would be the defending champs and would presumably have an elite team. Lebron's best chance of repeating would be there.

On the other, if Lebron brings home a title, it can be argued that he will have done his duty. If his heart (and marketing wallet) really leads him to Madison Square Garden, perhaps he will have "earned" the right to leave.

If he wins a ring, he is staying in Cleveland for sure.

It sure is funny, though, what passed for a GARM thread these days.

I think the dude is staying in Cleveland regardless. They really cater to him there, and I think if they can land a big name at the trade deadline, Cleveland just sealed the deal.

I'm sure the Mods will move if it is better suited for NBA Dish, rather than Garm. No malice intended on my part.

I just wonder about all the stuff that Lebron has said about wanting to become a billionare/mogul. He needs to be in NY to reach that kind of diety status.

The proposed Knicks - Rockets trade has a Do or Die deadline in the very near future and the results for Cleveland in Post Season play won't be known until Late Spring -- Early Summer.

I fail to see the relevance -- connection between what the Rockets and Knicks are currently discussing and Lebron's decision this Summer.

    Wrong forum.

    Edit:

I would like to clarify that since Lebron's decision won't be known until later this year, the current discussions between the Rockets and Knicks aren't hinging - dependent on that future decision.

Meow i'm inclined to think he will stay with cleveland regardless of winning or not winning a ring meow. James will get the extra year in Clevland, but meow may be the best time to go if any if the knicks can sign another top free agent. Meow I personally think the knicks strike out this offseason so imo it wouldn't be good for Lebron to go there meow. So as of meow I say he stays.

    Meow

Why not? They've already swept the Lakers and will [most likely] have homecourt in the finals.. And LeBron is beast this year. 29 7 8 with 50%+ fg is amazing.

IMO if the Clippers could somehow shed some salaries then they could be a legit destination for Lebron. Blake Griffin and Eric Gordon would tremendous next to Lebron, and can you imagine Kobe and Lebron battling it out for control over LA?

Why? He's pretty much already a global icon, what can New York do to help that?
If Lebron wins this year (and honestly given the way that even old Shaq makes Pau his *****, I wouldn't be surprised if Cleveland did win), he's staying. No debate. Even if he doesn't win, it's possible, especially if they say, make the Finals and lose to LA in 7 or something.

    Four words.
    They. Are. The. Clippers.
    Lebron is not going there.

have you been to NY before. if they had a good player for the knicks for once, actually the best player in the world and he won a couple titles there. promise you he would be bigger then he is now by far.

    No.

The fact is that it's the Cleveland Lebrons and the team, outside of Lebron, sucks. If they do win a ring, it was Lebron who did it and not his team. Whatever he does in Cleveland, he can do on another team easily. Winning a championship with a mediocre team is not going to make him stay.

It's been said: but I'm not really sure how it's relevant to the potential Hou/NY trade since Lebron will not have won a ring by the trade deadline?

Good to see it has made its way to the dish....

What is this Super Troopers?

Anyways... I say yes, he will definitely stay. Even if he doesn't win a ring this year he'll be so close that he can taste therefore stay and win a ring next year.

I think they can win it all this year... anybody but the Lakers or Celtics please God of Bball. Pretty please!

If he could win it in Cleveland, he would probably just stay to try to improve his legacy. Starting a dynasty on the team he was drafted to, surrounded by pretty mediocre players will be a hell of a lot more impressive in the history books than moving to NYC to join Wade or Bosh or whoever and David Lee to sail to some championships... Not to mention he would get more money, too. (From his NBA contract, at least.)

Interesting.....seeing as how we're a third team candidate to help get Stoudemire to Cleveland, I think we should jump all over that to help not only the Cavs, but us as well. Having Stoudemire there would convince LBJ to stay I think, which would make the picks we get from the knicks (IF we do) that much more valuable.
