maybe its obvious but I've never known why but whats the point of regional blackouts? I used to subscribe to the multi-sports package from my dish provider which gave me several FSN networks and a few comcast ones but all the sports games were blackout on those channels. Whats the point then of even getting them? College sports were not blacked out though. That didnt make any sense to me. I cancelled the sports package since I was hoping I'd be able to watch FSN houston pre/post games for the rockets but those were blacked out too. any reason why this is the case? i mean it was basically paying money to see the same top 100 plays, pokers invitational and best damn sports show on 25 different channels if the actual sports games were taking out. i wouldnt mind paying a higher cost to get them because last year there were many times i would have a rockets game in HD "blacked out" because it was on the FSN channel and I had to watch it on my league pass channel and it wasnt in HD on the league pass channel
Professional sports leagues own the out of market rights to their games. They put them on a PPV package like League Pass and Xtra Innings. That is why if you live in Houston, you can watch the Rockets on FSN Houston but not on FSN Houston through League Pass. If you live say in Arkansas, you can watch the Rockets on FSN Houston through League Pass but not on FSN Houston. The FSN package is a total ripoff if you want to watch pro sports.
