SEATTLE -- The Seattle Seahawks entered the Reggie White sweepstakes, looking to lure the NFL sack leader from retirement.

Seahawks coach and general manager Mike Holmgren said he talked with White on Tuesday about a possible comeback. The Tennessee Titans, in White's home state, are also interested in the 38-year-old star.

"We're going to continue to talk," Holmgren told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. "Now his agent will call. I don't know if we can afford him. But the fact that he phoned me and I love the guy makes me want to pursue this."

The presence of White would provide leadership for the young Seahawks and fill a hole in the defensive line created by the free agency departures of Philip Daniels and Sam Adams. The Seahawks are also talking with former Packer defensive tackle Gilbert Brown.

White played for Holmgren in Green Bay, helping the Packers to another Super Bowl. Hampered by back problems in 1997, White gave it one more year, collecting 16 sacks and getting voted to the Pro Bowl in his final season in 1998.

"I don't think he's working one side against the other," Holmgren said. "He's not doing that. So we'll continue to talk."

White has 192½ career sacks and has been voted to 13 Pro Bowls. He held discussions with the AFC champion Titans, but the talks are currently on hold, with the two sides at least $500,000 apart on a one-year deal, the newspaper reported.

"There's a lot of work to be done and the biggest hurdle is to at least get into the same range of numbers that would work for both sides ," Titans coach Fisher said in Tuesday's editions of The Tennessean newspaper. "The sooner the better, out of fairness for both sides."

The Seahawks also released veteran wide receiver Mike Prichard on Tuesday. Prichard's knee problems kept him out of a spring

Yeah Seattle is a good place for that dumb ass. I mean there aren't alot of Mexicans up there "gifted in family virtues". But wait I heard there are quite a few Asians like myself up there. If he doesnt watch his back we might just turn his cell phone into a TV when is not looking. How the hell can anyone be as stupid as White. I mean I wish I was smart enough to turn a TV into a phone or whatever, but I cant. Actually I think he is giving us Asians a complement by calling us smart, so I dont know why I'm getting mad.
