Frankly, I can't think of anybody I'd rather have added to the best NBA coverage on TV.

    http://www.nba.com/features/miller_050818.html

Miller joins his new TNT family, three months removed from an 18-year career with the Indiana Pacers, in a unique situation never before done at the network. Miller will have the opportunity to be a guest in the studio with Charles Barkley, Kenny “The Jet” Smith, Ernie Johnson and Magic Johnson, but will also share time as a basketball analyst with the likes of Marv Albert and Kevin Harlan, among others.

“We haven’t had anybody that has crossed back and forth like that,” Levy said. “Certainly we’ve had some people in the studio as guests, but truly he’s been hired to do both.”

Does anyone know how much these xNBA player analysts get paid?

I wouldn't think most NBA players would be NBA TV analysts unless their salaries were in the millions.

I BELIEVE I heard somewhere that Van Gundy was getting 1 Million to be a TNT analyst before he came back to coach, so I'm guessing that it's comparable to that. Just a guess though. Anybody know for sure?

Barkley was up front about making exactly one million a year at TNT, and he's probably the biggest sports TV personality there is (literally and figuratively), so I doubt JVG was making half of that.

For most of the big names that are invovled with TV, I don't really think it has anything to do with the money. It's more about having something to do after constantly being on the road living the high life for 10-20 years as a player. Now, for some of the lower eschelon guys that become analysts, such as guys like Steve Kerr, the money might be a little more important, but I'd say that the guys on TNT prolly get 200-500K per year. But that is just a guess on my part.

Miller had a talk show on Indianapolis' NBC affiliate about 8-9 years ago that made Magic Johnson's show look like NBC-era Dave Letterman.

Miller is pretty good. The last couple of years Reggie did some WNBA games over the summer and did a good job on them. He will add a lot to TNT's broadcasts.

It is a shame ESPN didnt get him because they really need some help. TNT's roster looks very professional while ESPN's roster looks like a bunch of JVers that only want to "act hip" instead of report on basketball.

    I love NBA on TNT.

They should have that show even if there is no game on TV.

I hope they scrap Magic some day... I cant stand that DA is at least twice as good as him, but TNT goes with the big name over the guy that CLEARLY has better substance.. DOWN WITH MAGIC ON TNT!!

Hmmm... most people they bring in are usually just game analysts. If they're bringing him in to the studio you have to wonder if they're trying to feel out potential replacements. You always hear about Kenny being offered coaching/m anagement positions. I wouldn't be surprised if they're looking for Reggie to eventually take over as the Chuckster's foil in the studio.

reggie seems like he'll fit in well. if they could get rid of magic it would be perfect. hell, they don't need miller to make it perfect, just get rid of magic. but miller doesn't take anything away as far as i can tell.

I have never been a Reggie Miller fan while he was playing. But all the interviews he does, he sounds intellegent, reasonable, personable, and makes some good points. I beleive he has experience doing this before; IIRC he has been in studio before. I enjoy his comentary, and I watch Inside The NBA just because I enjoy the show. Now they have added someone who can speak in complete sentances and makes sense (I'm sorry, but I think Magic would have some good points if I could just figure what he is saying....and Chuck has never even spoken in complete sentaces before....Kenny does a pretty good job, but I don't agree with some of the bball tactics he suggests sometimes.....EJ has to make the factual points sometimes for there to be any sense on the show).

All in all, I say a good hire (I loved JVG doing analysist on games too. He was great. I don't rememeber what game it was (regualr season) where Kevin Harlan (whom I think is the best in the biz (I'm tired of Marv) asked JVG what he thought the team should do with >5 seconds left (I don't remember who was playing). JVG then drew up the play exactly as thier coach did, and someone hit a game winner.......he was really good, glad he is on my bench though).

Reggie has promised to be very candid and to tell it like he sees it. Should be a good addition. He also won't say stupid things just to get attention.

Reggie was one of the all-time greatest smack-talkers on the hardwood. He seemed to know how to push everyone's buttons. If he can bring that to TNT, it should make for some interesting TV.
