Reggie Evans do we have a shot? I think our chances for landing swift is becoming bleek. Especially with what CD just said last night. Can Reggie Evans be had for the MLE? If so do you think Seattle would match it?
I think behind Swift Reggie Evans is 2nd in my picks of forwards. He's the kind of hard nose to the basket guy I want. His 23 MPG at almost 10 rebounds is amazing. I can really see this guy starting and Howard coming off the bench for some extra scoring while Mcgrady or Yao rest.

P.S. Say no to Marshall ( I dont want a power forward shooting 3's Who the hell is going to get rebounds while our power forward is shooting from the top of the key?)

I think he'd be a good fit. Not a big shot blocker, according to his stats, but definately a rebounding machine.

I think we do; unfortunately, he doesn't.

    Plus, he's a foul machine.

I wouldn't be upset if we somehow ended up with Evans.

I don't care if we get a scorer or not. I just want a guy that can defend the quick power forwards and rebound.

this is just nuts! i would like to get the guy b/c he can rebound... he has a big body so he is a presence in the paint too, although he isnt the best shotblocker.

Im just getting sick of not knowing who our other powerforward is going to be next year...b/c we gotta get somebody. howard isnt going to cut it by himself. its obvious we have a problem at this position but its becoming a huge pain in the ars to fill it with ****ty assets (only MLE, LLE, and some really crappy/over paid benchwarmers who will come off the books soon). its hard to attract marque players with little money to offer. i bet it has been amazingly annoying to CD b/c he has a huge problem with very little to work with. i am trying not to point the finger and blame CD for being a bad gm... if evans is what we can get... then great. he beter just come in rebound his heart out and not make a bunch of dumb fouls. howard would be a nice complementary player to evans off the bench. he will be more of a scoring option in the post when yao is on the bench.

I wouldn't mind seeing him come and and play a similar role compared to last year with the Sonics, however, I believe he's a RFA, and with James gone to NY (and Radmonovic negotiations going poorly), it ups the pressure on the Sonics to keep him.

I just wonder if Evans will want to come to a city with such a low ogre population. I know he'd want to be with his own kind wherever he plays...

OK... take a deep breath, no one can sign or trade anyone until Friday, so no team knows what is going to happen until then!

    Now repeat after me...

Oh, we have some ogres here, I'm sure. They just come out after dark.

I had to sit through a few years of Reggie Evans at the University of Iowa. Actually, he was sometimes our saving grace. Strong and rugged dude; a beast on the glass. But man, when he stepped to the Brick-Throw Line, with that expression on his face (think: Forrest Gump; Sling Blade), it was just painful. And then the free throws; you could empathize with the glass.

Swift, Walker, Marshall and Abdur-Rahim could all start in front of Juwan. And with the exception of Marshall, all could be a future building block. Why on Earth is Reggie Evans even a discussion point? What happened to the operative word "athleticism" that we need to upgrade? Unless the price is dirt cheap, it would be a pointless move IMHO.

EDIT: Let's also not lose sight of how inexpensive Lonny Baxter would be and the fact he appears to have some offensive game...surely non-starter type O.

I don't know... I guess its like AI's "practice" comment - you don't need to attribute it, it stands on its own

call me crazy but unless evans is signed for half the MLE or less i would rather have baxter play backup to Jho for the minimum.

I'd rather have Swift, SAR or Walker, definetly.

For the same money I'd rather have Marshall over Evans. But if Evans would sign for like 3 years, 13.5 mil (4.5 mil per year, no raises), that is tempting and probably keeps Seattle from matching (unless they let VR go and don't pursue another PF).

The issue with DM, is that his and JH on court contributions and contract value will diminish right together. In 3-4 years we would be paying like 12+ million dollars for two 35+ PFs.

Reggie Evans is a very solid candidate to back-up JH IMO if we miss out on Swift, Walker and DM. Personally, I think we are going to get Swift or Walker--I would hope we would pursue SAR too (before going to DM), I am fairly confident we get our 1st or 2nd choice the way free agency has unfolded.
