Because Turkoglu is too fast for Swift on the defensive end and Swift doesn't provide enough of a 3 point threat on offense to get Hedo away from the basket. Not to mention moving Swift that far from the basket eliminates his rebounding.
Would that be the "high-power Magic" that scored 78, 79, and 85 points in their first three games of the season?
Total Magic FB Pts in first 3 games 33. Total NJ Nets FB points in first 3 games...35. Back to the ignore list for this troll.
I was actually talking about all the whistles they blew. It was very noticeable from tipoff through the 3rd quarter. May have kept blowing the whistle in the 4th, but my stomach was in knots w/ how bad and unclutch this team is w/o McGrady.
You didn't but you were the only one that kept blabbering the same 'fire van grumpy...he's a meanie he can't coach offense' crap even after you were proven wrong when the team was clicking on all cylinders....and you still wouldn't shut up.
I thought the first half was well officiated. They hardly blew whistles at all. The second half they felt the need to take more control so the game didn't get out of hand. Overall, I thought it was the best officiated game of the 3 we've played. They called a couple of ticky-tack fouls on Wesley. But I'm sure Orlando fans can point to a couple of bad ones on them as well. And they held their whistles (for the most part) on the junk usually called on Yao. Which I really appreciated. I don't think the referees had anything to do with the overall pace or the game or the final outcome. They didn't dictate how this game would play out. They called a good game.
I agree with this whole-heartedly. Yao is finally starting to be able to use his size without getting called for an offensive foul every time he gets the ball. When he got his first foul, I think it was in the third, I was shocked that he didn't have any to that point. Of course, in no time he had three . The thing that kills me is we were in the bonus with 7 minutes left in the 4th and we did nothing with it. The final period should have been freethrow practice for us and it would have lead to a better outcome.
Uhmmmm.........no if you were watching the same game as I was you would have clearly seen it was the players, NOT Jeff Van Gundy, who appeared clueless.
LOL....lets not encourage the lurkers.... 2600 + posts for edc.........and most of them used in the "Fire Gundy" thread last year...
3 words: hand check fouls I hate the rule. I understand the reason that I keep hearing for the rule is to make it more exciting, allowing for more guard penetration since the defense can't touch the guy at all without a whistle, but damn...it's slowing down the games, making it less exciting if you ask me. Yeah, I know you didn't ask me.
Yeah, one of those ticky-tack Wesley fouls was a hand check foul. It was particularly lame 'cause Wesley was guarding the 6-10 Turkoglu who had his back to the basket and was posting up. But for some reason they decided not to let Wesley put a hand on him. Go figure. Overall, though, I'm okay with hand check fouls. If you let guys on the perimeter get away with the hand checks, you take away the quick first step of guys who make a move to penetrate to the basket, and it's not fair.
