Reef Waiting for a Trade According to the Vancouver Sun, is Grizzlies' forward Shareef Abdur-Rahim truly desperate to get out of Vancouver? If you listen to his agent, Aaron Goodwin, the answer seems to be yes. The sooner, the better. If you listen to Abdur-Rahim, it appears he's just going to take the non-committal approach. For now, at least. Goodwin said in an interview this week that he's becoming increasingly frustrated with what he believes is an apparent lack of urgency on the part of Vancouver management. 'I hope something happens for Shareef and quick,' said Goodwin, who in late December said Abdur-Rahim would welcome a trade to a contender. 'All I want them to do is move in a direction to get Shareef traded.' He said he believes there are deals to be had that can get the Grizzlies' both salary cap room and players. Abdur-Rahim has said he doubts anything will be done before the Feb. 22 trade deadline. 'Like I said from the beginning, anything as far as those trade things is out of my hands,' Abdur-Rahim said Thursday. 'If the team is going to trade me or is looking to trade me, it's out of my hands. I think I have to more or less wait 'til the summer and really see what they're trying to do or what they're saying.' Abdur-Rahim insisted Thursday he's not at the point where he will demand to be traded. 'I don't think that's where I'm at right now,' he said. 'I think I'm more in a situation where I'm going to see what they do by all-star break or by the trade deadline, see if I'm here or not. But with all the things that were said this year . . . if I'm here after the season, then I have to sit down and talk to the team and see what the heck is going on.' Meanwhile a frustrated Shareef continues to wallow in obscurity while mired in the Vancouver. -------------------------------------------- ------------------ http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/houstonrockets2000
Links man, we need links!!! ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
Almost makes Hakeem's comments look tame. And Vancouver goes through it on a quarterly basis... How do their fans put up with it? ------------------
Here you go HOOP this is the link for both. http://www.sportstalk.com/nba/rumors/index.shtml ------------------ There is nothing more thrilling than using the RealGM trade checker for the 1 millionth time and finally having it tell you trade accepted!!!
When they say contender they don't mean TITLE contender, they mean PLAYOFF contender, which Houston is with an extra low post scorer and rebounder like Rahim. ------------------ Dream a deadly Dream. . .
CD needs to get SAR the heck out of Vancouver quickly. If this can happen we have a outside shot at the playoffs. He makes us so much better. ------------------ "Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen" -Hudson
I agree with you "Scary", I feel that all we need is another punch and rebounder to propel us through the standings. If we were able to swing a deal for Shareef, I think we might make the playoffs this year, but we he would need some time to get used to our style of play. ------------------ http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/houstonrockets2000
DaneB True, but this guy is so versatile, athletic and hard working that I think he could do it. I have the NBA ticket and since these rumors started I watched a little Vancouver and felt sorry for him there. I think him and a center in the draft would put us back in the hunt easy. ------------------ "Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen" -Hudson
I think that Shareef is the most underrated player in the NBA. If you check out the all star votes, he received the least votes for forwards in the Western Conference even though he is an Olympian. I think he deserves to be on a much better team to get the recognition he needs. To guarantee a spot in the playoffs though, I think we would need to either sign Antonio Davis or Marc Jackson. I really don't think we have much of a chance of getting Webber because I have a feeling that he wants to finish out the rest of his career with the Kings. ------------------ http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/houstonrockets2000

True. I think a bird in the hand...... Shareef is here now. He sure is underrated. I think him on the rockets is a good move.He is so fundamentally sound. I just hope we can swing it without taking on Big Country somehow. Webber is great but I have a feeling he might want to stay in Sacramento where he seems comfortable. ------------------ "Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen" -Hudson
I want SAR. I can't help it; I want to be excited about the team. I always root for them, but they need that extra player, someone who can board and score. We have too many pieces not amounting to too much. Of course, what I consider reasonable---Reef to us, Reeves and Bibby to Chicago, #1 picks and Crawford (Seattle native, wouldn't be far from home) and Miller to Vancouver---might not be what the three teams can work out. But I do hope. ------------------
That's not a bad trade scenario. ------------------ Who's better: Kelvin Cato or Joe Barry Caroll? Take your time!
I dont understand why everybody is so high on Abdur-rahim? Hes certainly doesnt bring in the much needed defensive presence, which we so desperately need right now. And hell if your looking for offense, we have a 6-11 man from Vandy over on the bench, who is not nearly as timid as Rahim - at least Langhi has a flame within him to flicker - Reef never has. I say screw Reef when you already have a Langhi. ------------------
How dare you compare the 20-10 Rahim to the 1-1 Langhi?? Langhi will never be as good as Shareef. He will never be as good as Bullard, in my opinion. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
Uhhh, yeah, Abdur-Rahim and Langhi are not in the same league, so to speak. He may be quiet, but he is a silent assasin. He quietly gets 20 points, 10 or more boards, and is a better defender than he gets credit for. All you have to do is watch the guy play. Of course, he is a better player than he gets credit for. He does not get the recognition he deserves being trapped in Vancouver. ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness." ZRB, Will Rahim dunk a ball in another players mug, with a twittling nose, a menacing smirk upon his brow, all while grabbing his crotch, yelling like a wild boar? Dan Langhi did all this in the Rock Mountain Revue after delivering a facial. I'll send you a copy of it if you wish. Abdur-Rahim never will have the savagery of Dan Langhi within him, never. ------------------
I guess anyone who managed to do all that while grabbing his crotch end up yelling like a wild boar ------------------ Moochie Norris Hair Club for Men - I'm not only the president, I'm also a client
You are reaching on this one..... If Dan Langhi is being cited for his fire for something he did in the Rocky Mtn. Revue...well, I think that speaks for itself. SAR put up the numbers night in and night out. FIRE doesn't mean much if you aren't effective, much less PLAYING! ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
