They were a nonstop nightmare for whoever has to manage reddit. They were the most insane MAGA strain, always breaking rules and then complaining about being persecuted when held to account.

There is a replacement for Twitter they're all going to. Can't remember the name but it sounds like (appropriately) a degrading sex finishing move. There are lots of ways to automate moderation on Reddit. I don't have personal experience with the sub in question (eek) but I know there are plenty of mod tools to auto-curb issues.
They are already online and indoctrinating people - what is 8chan afterall? Better it happens detached from the mainstream than part of it.
Sorry I wasn't clear. The rotating roster of mods were the problem. From /r/subredditdrama from a few of months ago: Reddit today announced that it would be removing some of The Donald subreddit's moderators, claiming they "have harassed Reddit employees, stickied rule-breaking content, and generally undermined progress." followed by: The_Donald mods have put themselves in self-isolation, only allowing two posts on their subreddit in the last week, and users are going stir crazy with cabin fever This is just the last three or four months. It's been this crap nonstop since 2016. They clean house and another set of troublemaking d-bags take over as moderators. The only people that wanted to moderate it were people who wanted to go to war with Conde Naste and break all the rules because MAGA!!
They are going to head somewhere else, there's already a 'free speech' reddit alternative, it's not very popular. One look at it and all you see are edgelords spamming derogatory terms towards LGBTQ+, Blacks, Jews, Hispanics, women, you name it. A lot of them are trolls that get bored once they realize they are in an echo chamber and there's no one else to troll.
I hope they do try to make another one. It's amusing how many of these 'FREE SPEECH!' places flame out. Parler is begging for liberals to join their website but that's going to be hard to convince people to join a site where they get harassed for their skin color daily.
The Donald has basically been banned for a long time now -- @RocketsLegend claimed to be a mod at one point.
