Redding was on the Astros for a while. Does he have any potential to become a good 4th or 5th starter for the Bombers? Does he have good stuff? Anything else I should know about him (besides the fact that he seems to suck pretty hard in the past)?

he's a joke and couldn't take the pressure of being in the majors. We gave him every opportunity possible and he never came close to panning out. Don't hold your breath.

He played well very briefly, but has not been able to put it altogether in the Majors so far.

If Redding ever starts for the Yanks, you can officially call their season over. Hahaha

What's sad is that the Yankees pitchers haven't been much better than Redding. :D

What may be even sadder is that the Astros have been forced to put Astacio out there even though he isn't ready and his ERA is worse than Redding's. :(

Wow, how they sunk so low into getting our trash. First San Diego and they were smart to trade his ass off to the Yankees.

Hey George, get a hold of your damn team!

Anyone know who will replace May in San Diego's rotation. May was scheduled to pitch against us next week.

Yankees suck. Redding will fit right in with that team.

As bad as Redding is, this was a great move by the Yankees - I have no idea why the Padres did it. Two sucky but young starting pitchers and cash for a 36-year old reliever that sucks?

    NY Mets
    NY Yankees
    Chicago Cubs
    Houston Astros

One of these teams is under .500 and one is 6 games out of first place. :D

I want to see Redding in pinstripes. That'd be fun. I can't wait to see some of my buddies explode when they see Redding give up a couple of dingers in a game.

redding's a complete headcase who couldn't handle the pressure in houston. expect his head to explode on the mound at some point in new york.

    Astacio #'s today
    IP 6
    H 11
    R 7

AND lowered his ERA in the process.

Because only three of those runs were earned - so it's as if he pitched with a 4.5 ERA.

He didn't pitch well out there - there's no need to try and float that one by.

Redding couldn't handle the pressure in Houston. What the hell is going to happen to him in NY? His head might explode the first time he gives up a homerun and they boo him like he's never heard before.

Yes, but the runs were unearned due to his error. Unearned runs are supposed to benefit the pitcher's stats due to mistakes of his fielders. If a pitcher makes the error, the runs should be earned.

You're not going to get an argument from me about that.

I was just pointing out that the reason his ERA dropped was more due to the fact that he was scored to have given up only three earned runs, and less because it was so high giving up seven in six innings would lower it. Though it might have.

One thing going for Timothy is that he is young. So there is still time that he will figure it out.

He has descent to good stuff.

His fast ball is above average.

He can be very good but hadly consistent. He does not throw his off speed stuff for strike enough.

He has major location issues, hense unnecessary walks and high pitch counts.

Can easily get out of sorts and lose his cool.

Could be a descent 4th or 5th starter if he can keep his fastballs low and throw off speed pitches with confidence for strike. Hey what do you know, maybe NY pressure is what he needs to excel and finally put it together.

PS. I heard he was assigned to Columbus (Yankees AAA affiliate).......why was he not sent to NY directly and at least have him start as a relief pitcher?
