http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/2003/0529/1560537.html Kim for Hillenbrand. Good trade in my opinion. Red Sox need to improve that bullpen. Hillenbrand is expendable because of Bill Mueller's great season.
Well it isn't a done deal yet. the principals have been agreed upon but the D-Backls are waiting on MRI results from Brandon Webb and Matt Mantei. I think it is a forgone conclusion that the deal will be completed but if those MRI's come back with bad results it may be delayed for a little bit. Hillenbrandt will start for the D-Backs most likely at 3B and he may log some time at first.
Now I'd like to see the Red Sox acquire another top of the line starter, and maybe another bat, maybe a first baseman. I'd like to see Wakefield in the bullpen for the playoffs, with Fox, Timlin, Mendoza, Howry, Lyon, Kim. That would be pretty solid.
Kim has been a starter this year for AZ. I would assume he'll continue to do so in Boston, rather than be their closer.
Nice move by the Sox. Having multiple closers just dosent work. Now I expect the yankees to make a move in the near future
That doesn't make any sense. Kim is a former closer, the Red Sox are in desperate need of a true closer, they acquire Kim. It seems pretty straight forward to me. You could be right though. We'll see.
Sox needed another starting pitcher as much as they needed a closer... Kim could go either way. If Kim starts, look for them to try to acquire a closer. If Kim closes, they go after a starter.
I hear ya, those are the 2 guys I drafted at 3b also. But keep an eye on Mueller. The Red Sox score a lot of runs, he might be a good pickup.
Check out the last two series wins they had. That shows why they won't beat the Yankees for the division this year, next year, etc. Who was in first this time the past 4 years? Oh, right. Thanks. You know the routine.
I know the routine? This isn't your Saturday night party at your local truck weigh station. We're talking baseball. Things change. This Red Sox team has heart, and it has good players. The Yankees will not win the pennant this year. You can count on that.
Then who won the pennant in 2001? Who hasn't won a WS since 1918? Who hasn't won a pennant since 1986? Who hasn't won the AL East in the past 5 years? Who has a great pitcher that breaks down every year with mysterious injuries? Keep it coming.
Who runs the DBacks? God damn. Have they ever heard of Chad Tracy? Looks like a pretty desperate move.
Unfortunatly things do not change. While the Sox may have the better team now, you know that NY will load up at the trading deadline if they are still not in 1st. Its the same thing happens every year. Its hard to overcome a team that can take on an extra 20+ million just for the playoff run. Also I still feel that Kim is a better starter than closer. He has nasty stuff but he has a tendancy to blow important games. Its a good trade for the Sox becasue he is only 24 and could start or close if necessary.
