Red Rowdies in New York. Who's In?

Who's up for causing some mayhem at MSG, pretending like it's 1994 all over again?

I'll be at the Rockets/Knicks game on Monday night. After seeing what happened in Miami, and after Jeff's goal of Clutchfans at every single Rockets game, it got me thinking...

Why not get a little Rockets section going at the Garden? The Knicks home-crowd is now pathetic, so we can easily get tickets. And I know there are a bunch of New York-based Clutchfans members. (Almu, across118th, Rocket Rich NYC, etc.)

I actually just e-mailed Brian from the Rockets to pitch the idea and ask if he had any MSG hook-ups. I doubt we'll get any kind of discount, but even if we don't, who's up for sitting in the same Rockets block?

What you saw in Miami was a special promotion by the Rockets organization for 500 new season ticket holders who were flown out to Miami for free. It had nothing to do with the Red Rowdies. I'm sure it was arranged months in advance, and it would be impossible to recreate that on your own. I think you'd be lucky to get 15 or 20 together for the Knicks game, and even then you probably couldn't sit together.

Not sure if you knew this was the case, but if not I just thought I'd clear it up for you.

Yep. I know the backstory of the Miami promotion, and I know that we'd be lucky to get a 15 or 20-seat block. But still... I'd be okay with that. In a quiet arena -- and the Garden will be quiet -- 15 or 20 people can make a lot of noise.

In reality, this is probably too last-minute, but you never know, just throwin' it out there and seeing who's interested...

There are some $45 tickets that would probably work.

I fly on SW standby as my daughter works for them - I could see if I can move a biz appt in Austin to the 22nd and come up. Any chance of a cheap hotel in NYC or someone's couch? Hotels run big bucks in that city. Also SW flies into Long Island Islip i think it is called - is it easy to get into the city from there?

Long shot but I can try to make it work.

I would but I'm gonna be watching the game in a luxury box. :) The boxes at MSG are awesome.

That is not to mention about the possibility of Red Rowdies in Toronto, if there are enough Rocket fans living up here...

Just heard back from Brian from the Rockets.

Not surprisingly, he can't swing a hook-up at the MSG.

That being said, I'm sure we can get a block of tickets ourselves. (Again, Knicks tickets aren't in demand.)

Maybe it will work best for me to call the Knicks ticket office, ask where there are 10-12 seats or so together, buy my tickets, and then post the section on the board?

Anyone else interested? Given how many threads are flying on the homepage, I'm kinda worried no one saw this.

I went last night and saw a surprisingly good game vs. the Cavs. LeBron was jawing with Spike Lee and kept staring down Dustin Hoffman, funny stuff. Damon Jones was the real star though.

The Long Island Railroad picks up there and brings you to Manhattan for about $25.
