I noticed at about 4:00 left in the fourth quarter, when Yao (I think) was on the line, I heard a loud "Let's go Rockets" chant. WTF? If it's the Red Rowdies' work, great job!

Yep, something to do with new season ticket purchases (or something like that) got a paid trip to Miami for the game.

They were cheering louder for the Rockets than the Toyota Center crowd. I saw Head acknowledge some Rocket fans after the game, I think they were pretty audible.

    JONATHAN FEIGEN/HOUSTON CHRONICLE

MIAMI - All that best center in NBA stuff was a nice verbal hug for Yao Ming from his teammates. And it would be difficult to argue now.

But the Rockets demonstrated something perhaps more telling. On Sunday, they not only had the best center, they were better than the NBA's best team.

With Yao carrying them through a fourth-quarter surge past the 2006 NBA champions, the Rockets rolled to a 94-72 statement of a win over the Heat before 19,600, including 500 screaming, singing Rockets season-ticket holders, at AmericanAirlines Arena.

While the Heat spent half the game trying to get Yao's name right on the scoreboard, Yao took another huge step into his prime and past and Shaquille O'Neal in winter. Yao followed his 35-point, 17 rebound, seven blocked shots performance on Saturday with 34 points on 11 of 19 shooting and 14 rebounds.

O'Neal scored eight points in the first 3 1/2 minutes of the game, but finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

He scored on a nifty fast-break scoop then sank a 17-foot baseline turnaround as the shot-clock buzzer sounded, lifting the Rockets to a 10-point lead with 4 1/2 minutes left.

It was not until late in the third quarter that the Rockets put a surge to build any kind of a cushion, outscoring the Heat, 11-0, to end the third quarter and start the fourth. Battier hit a runner on the baseline before Rafer Alston sank a 3-pointer, the Rockets' first after 11 consecutive misses from beyond the arc.

Luther Head slipped in a reverse off a Yao handoff and Yao began the fourth quarter with a drive and a jumper to give the Rockets a 64-56 lead.

They never let up again, taking their largest lead with the game's last basket.

If the Rockets were angry at themselves for allowing Wade to end the half by slamming home his own miss, sending the Heat off the floor with a 42-39 lead, they could have also felt grateful to have somehow escaped the first half down only by three.

With the Heat sending O'Neal Alonzo Mourning big man help on Yao inside, the Rockets worked the ball to all the open shots they could want. But their guards -- McGrady, Rafer Alston and Luther Head -- combined to made just 3 of 18 attempts. The Rockets made just 2 of 11 3-pointers, offering nothing to discourage Heat coach Pat Riley from calling off the defensive blitz he sent to Yao.

The Rockets also survived O'Neal apparent determination to pounce from the tip. O'Neal scored 20 seconds into the game on hook and had his eight first-half points in the first 3 1/2 minutes, making his first four shots. Yao missed four of his first five attempts, but while O'Neal went scoreless through the remaining 12 minutes he played in the half, Yao got going, finishing the half with 14 points and eight rebounds.

That was not enough to regain their first-minute lead, but they were somehow very much in a game they had spent firing bricks.

In the preseason, if you were one of the first X number of season ticket purchasers (full season), you got a free trip to Miami on the Rockets for this game including game tickets, airfare and hotel accomodations.

Pretty cool promotion. I can't remember if it was the first 500 or what.

That's weird considering they are part of the Toyota Center crowd.

Just got back from the game, at my hotel now, on my laptop. BEST EXPIERENCE EVER!!! OMG, that was one of the best events I have ever been apart of in my life. Sooooo many moments in the game. We were being booed at throughout the game, but the 4th qtr was ours. NO HEAT fan could say anything. After our run and Wade made a shot when it was all bout over, I was like "FINALLY yall made a shot!!!!"

Bunch of Heat fans giving us crap saying "who are the champions?" I was like "WE GOT TWO!!! come back to me when go back to back!!!!" and they couldnt say NOTHING!!!! :)

I took plenty of pics and took some video with sound with the crowd going down the escalators cheering, I'll upload them once I have them on my laptop and make a thread.

OMG, i wish they do this every year :)
