[Red River Rivalry] #1 OU vs #5 UT The biggest game of the young season is this week (noon on ABC). #1 OU is an early 6 point favorite over #5 UT. Both teams are playing extremely well right now and this should be one of, if not the best game of the series. This game offers 2 of the top Heisman candidates in the nation in Colt McCoy and Sam Bradford. Both teams also feature great defenses. UT is dominant against the run and is leading the nation in sacks. To compliment that, their pass defense has been steadily improving. This is also just the 1st game of an extremely difficult stretch for UT. IF they can contain Bradford, McCoy can continue his all-american play, and they have a semblance of a running game outside of McCoy, UT should win this game. Will Muschamp is showing why he was hired and opposing qb's are scared (just ask Arkansas's qb). My prediction... UT - 27 OU - 24
don't care who wins -- Just want a good game to ensue. Good game as in lots of points. Not any of that SEC crap we see. Big 12 does it right.
Based on what I've seen so far, I gotta pick OU to win. I think Sam Bradford is playing completely out of his mind and OU has better athletes and a better coach. But I wouldn't be shocked if UT won since neither team has played a decent opponent yet. Colt McCoy might get killed against a speedy defense if he continues his Vince Young impersonation.
I hate to get my hopes up for this game, but I think Texas will pull it out if they just stick to their game plans and don't turn the ball over in the redzone. Planning on going to the game either way! Hook em!!
Texas is gonna win. Book it. McCoy > Bradford OU falls in rankings and Texas moves up. I'm a longhorn for life. Btw, the tickets on eBay are like $500 for upper deck now lol.. I've got my seats near mid-level.
OU is pretty good and as much as I'd like UT to win, I just don't see it...McCoy needs to win the big games, but unfortunately, it's not this weekend... I'm going to try and sneak into the game...
If UT wins, they might move up as high as #2, depending on what the rest of the top 5 does. Then they get Missouri at home next week...followed by Ok St at home...followed by road game @ TT. Also home for an improved Baylor and a simply pathetic A&M squad with nothing to lose. If UT manages to get through this stretch still undefeated, they're in the BCS regardless of what happens in the Big 12 title game...and possibly have a spot in the championship game locked up (a la OU in earlier this decade when they got stomped by Kansas St. in the title game and still went on to the BCS championship). That is a huge "if" though.
UT will win. Take it from an orangeblood teasipper like myself. Bad news is....I might have to work on Saturday!!
If UT wins, the next week would be #1 vs #3 - might not that be an even bigger game? On a side not, i have a ticket for the mizzou game, if anyone is interested. Can't make it.
I'll be there on Saturday Section 127. What a way to spend my first weekend as a 21 year old! I think the 'Horns take this one. They have a swagger about them this year that has been absent since Vince left. OU is tough, and I will not be surprised if they pull it out, but I have this gut feeling that Colt is gonna lead the Horns to victory. UT-35 OU-32
coming into the season i thought UT had no chance against OU. i don't think that anymore. i think texas CAN win.
Looking forward to watching the game. My prediction 37-27 OU. I hope Texas wins but I don't think it will happened.
i dont have an interest in either team my only concern is making sure that usc is not in the bcs title game and i think the best shot for them to still be sitting on the outside looking in is if OU wins this game. so at the risk of bbs flaming. GO SOONERS!
Honestly, I think USC is done as far as the bcs title game goes...barring every one ahead of them falling...and some more than once. The rest of their schedule is crap and won't help them at all in the computer rankings.
