I own a 2006 Ford Fusion (42K) and a 2008 Ford Edge (31K). Both of them need maintenance and I have cash to pay. Can the people of Clutchfans recommend a place that won't try to rape me and give me a good price? Perhaps someone on the board is a mechanic and has the means to do the work for me. The dealership wants to charge me $1900 for the 30K mile package for both cars. I'd like to try to cut that in half and pay cash. Any info would be appreciated and if you need further info, feel free to ask here. Thanks, and have a great day....

    WTF?!?!?! Seriously? $1900?

I pay ~ $300 for the every-90k-maintenance package at the dealership where I go. I guess because the make and model I have is easy to maintain...? Why so much for yours? What are they doing, adding a new engine?

EDIT: sent you a private message to your email, sir.

Those things are a joke. If you maintain your car properly (oil changes, etc) you don't need to go in for the dealer raping....I mean dealer maintenance program.

Both of my cars have over 70,000 miles and I've never taken it from the dealer...and I've never had a maintenance problem with either.

    oh my 1900

All those dealer programs are crap. You can take it to Jiffy Lube and pay half of what a dealer would charge. Both of your vehicles still have low mileage, no where in the world would you need service on them done for 1,900. All you possibly need is oil change, fuel filter, air filter, possibly trans flush. All that youre looking at around 200 bucks or so.

I do not trust JIFFY LUBE or anything that doesn't add certified parts for my model and make. Yes, I am skeptical like that. Sorry.

If I am going to have a drop in oil level, it was because the place where I took it did it, since I won't let anyone else or even myself handle anything not certified as usable from the company.

I can always go back to the place and say: "here's the document that says you added the such and such thing and it did this [picture attached]. Please fix it."

Certified parts?? Its not like youre going in to get your alternator, starter etc replaced. I do the maintenance work on my truck myself and Im also skeptical about the quality of what I put in it. Fuel filter would probably be the only part I would prefer it to be the 'original' part, oil filter, air filter doesnt really matter.

^ Very true, sir. I meant like a belt replacement (must be done at 90k for my model). But... yeah, air filter, oil filter, stuff like that... must be things that originally came with the car, too. Once my car gets really old, I might do the maintenance like the oil change and those things myself, but not now that I still consider my car 'dealership maintenance-worthy'.
