a friend asked me if I could recover some data off of a drive for her I said i can try to get some data off using data recovery software but cant guarantee anything depending on how badly damaged the drive is especially if its clicking

any one here recommend a particular software they found works well? i have a basic one that can pull data off but if there is a more powerful one I can get off the internet i'd prefer to use that

    thanks in advance

lol. The expert asking the novices for advance. Hey, I hate recovering HDs. I was just going to ask you for help.

first thing to consider is the external drive bays/readers. Get the HD out of her box and see if your machine can read it.

I use Piriform's Recuva to recover files I accidentaly deleted, not sure if that is what you are looking for though.
