Gonna be moving so now its time to choose cable providers. Comcast.....hate them but its who we use now (had issues with ATT UVerse). But for whatever reason, Comcast isn't available in the next area. Its TVMax. So we're deciding between TVMax and Direct TV. What are some of the things I should be looking at? I will be moving to the 610 area. (if thats what its called?......Bellaire?) Direct Tv seems to have a crap load more channels for the same cost.... Who do you guys prefer? Does direct tv have FSN??? I saw that TVMax does (they better being a Houston cable company). But I dont want to pay for a sports package just to have FSN. I also noticed Direct Tv doesnt have NBA channel..... Discuss please. Either way I assume its gonna be TXMax proving the internet. Anyone have issues with either of these two groups?
The internet sucked balls. I understand location was the problem but still. I'm talking about 5 min on 5 min off. Thats just surfing. Forget about online gaming. The TV channels would pause a lot too. Kinda like streaming.
DirecTV for TV. Comcast for internet. This is the combo I've used for years and I've been very happy with it.
Comcast isnt available in this area. Direct Tv, Where is FSN?? I am looking at the packages I dont see it!!! How much extra do i have to pay with them???
What is channel 676 on direct tv? it says its for Oklahoma and Tx. ?? and mentioned the basketball teams for each location so how does that work? What if a game is on for each area who goes on tv??? Help, lost.
Check out "Clear." If they are in your area, it's 4G WiMax for $30/month if you order online. http://www.clear.com/
I also have limited options, but given that have been nevertheless satisfied with DirecTV. DirecTV has all the local cable sports channels; if you pay extra you can watch all of them. If not, your base package as mentioned comes with your local sports affiliate (eg FSN with a Houston-only channel for Rockets/Astros games here in Houston). Whatever they use to determine local over-the-air affiliates (NBC 2, PBS 8, ABC 13, etc...) is apparently used to make sure you match up with local sports. And as of a month or two ago, DirecTV started including NBA TV with their mid-range package (I think basic, too, though not sure). Channel 216. Though, unfortunately, I think they moved ESPN Classic to the higher tier to make way.
WOW, I can't even believe you're considering TVMax. I moved into an apartment complex off of Westcott/Washington, and they forced TV Max down our throat. It is horrible. Let me give you a few examples. First of all, its expensive if you add HD, extra receivables, etc. Second, when you watch TV, it will go in and out. It seems to always do it during big games that everyone is watching. That sucks. Third, you know how when you push Guide, and you can see what is on? And it will show you a little summary? Yeah, TV Max doesnt have that, it just says "NBA". Four, on numerous occasions, it would say a show was on that was incorrect. I remember I had a friend over to watch a rockets game, and while we were looking for it, we were confused because FSN said "NHL Hockey". Then we clicked on it, and it was the rockets game. Five, the internet sucked. It would go in an out. Sometimes it would go out and not come back on and if you called, there would always be a message that says "We are aware there are internet outtages. We are working on it." But it would always take awhile. If you google reviews, you'll hear more of this stuff. Go with whatever you can that ISNT called TVMax.
