I`m not at home all that much, 31 with a family and a full-time gig. I love the NBA2K series. So I`m thinking a PS3 or XBOX360. But those PS3`s look awesome.

You might be best suited for a PS3. It has free decent online gaming and bluray player.

Get the 360 if you plan on gaming online. It's not free though

If it's just for you, then I'd go 360. But since you do have a family, and if they're going to be joining in the gaming, then maybe a Wii would be better since it's more family-friendly...

Could you give any more criteria, as far as what types of games you and your family like, how frequently you'll play online, whether you plan to use it as a media center, etc...

If you're not home all that much, then why do you need a game console? Is it for the kids? Then the DS or Wii are better suited because of their long line of products geared toward kids.

Is it for you, on the road? Then the DS is for you.
Is it for you, at home? Then the PS3 or XBOX will suit you best.

Do you know of games only made for the PS3 or the XBOX that you already like? Then choose with that as the reason.

Will you be playing Blu-ray movies and don't want to be switching to another component on your TV or having to buy a separate player? Choose the PS3.

Do you care about the "motion" stuff like with Mario Tennis, or sports with the family? The Wii might be the best choice.

Do you want full HD 1080p (blu-ray) compatibility with movies onto your TV? Pick the PS3. *Wii cannot do above 720p, I believe.

Will you be playing online games with your friends, or will your family be playing online with friends? Wii and PS3 don't ask for you to pay a subscription like XBOX live.

I don't know of any single thing the XBOX has that the Wii or PS3 don't, since I have never had XBOX.

I have both the Wii and the PS3. I don't see myself buying the XBOX ever.

I think it really comes down to what games you wanna play.

I hear good things about the PS3, but I believe that the 360 still has a better library as far as first-party exclusives (Halo, Gears of War, etc etc).

I have all of them. Since I don't play online competitively, I go with PS3 when the title is on both. I am afraid to use my 360 too much due to the RROD.

Netflix streaming doesn't require Xbox Live.

Some things about the 360 annoy me, like buying an extra battery pack- the PS3's controllers come with them built in (but that may be an issue down the road when the rechargeable batteries die).

The PS3 remote and it's controllers are awesome due to bluetooth.

However, the 360 controller design is better, IMO.

You're going to get more Japanese developers on the PS3, which means more RPGs.

You're going to get more American developers on the 360, which means more first-person shooters.

My Wii is gathering dust. Honestly, it's a one-trick pony with the motion controls. It's good every once and a while, but who wants to stand up and move around for a marathon gaming session? Of course, it does have the Nintendo first-party games, so if you love those, you can't really get them anywhere else. And the games are overall cheaper- I see 80% of them for $20 and less at Wal-mart on a regular basis.

If you're not going to be at home a lot and playing online, I recommend the PS3. So you don't have to pay the subscription fees for XBOX live. Would be a waste paying for time when you aren't around. (I think that's how it works...prepaid months or something.)

I'm happy with my XBOX 360, but I've never played any of the other consoles listed.

i generally love the NBA2K series and some of the fighting games. although i`d love to get into some of the RPG`s and whatnot, i don`t have the time nor the patience to play these types of games.

the blu-ray function sounds nice. something for the whole family.

are the games for the PS3 and the XBOX360 pretty much the same?
    how about the graphics?

what`s the difference between the DS and the PSP?
the PSP looks a lot better IMO. the DS looks outdated and generally dull.

Weird. I was going to say that if it's just for you, get the PS3, but that if it's for the family, get the XBox 360.

I've been semi-wanting a PS3 for a while (have a 360), but the PS3 is completely dominated by "M rating" games, which I don't want my kids playing. There are very few games that I'm interested in playing that are in the non-"M rating" status on PS3 that don't also exist on the 360. Like 2 off the top of my head.

it is lame. I bought it and had fun for about 6 months till the graphics got annoying. Sold it in less than a year.

The Wii is the answer because you can soft-mod (for free) it and then download every game for free.
