UPDATE: Audio link http://www.sports790.com/cc-common/...cted_podcast=JoshRobbins_1340803853_29311.mp3 Josh Robbins from the Orlando Sentinel was on Sports Talk 790 a few minutes ago. Here's a recap of what I caught: -Won't predict where Dwight will be next season, but it will not be with Orlando. Thinks it's either Houston or Portland. -Says Dwight has made it clear he does not want Houston and that people in Orlando accept it as true that Dwight opted in because of the threat of being traded to Houston or LA. -Dwight wants Brooklyn. That's it. He wants to go to Brooklyn and he wants it to happen ASAP as he wants to play with Deron there. They way he worded it though made it seem like even if Deron leaves Brooklyn this offseason that Dwight will still end up there. -Dwight doesn't want to go to LA. He's conscious of the idea that he is following in Shaq's footsteps and does not want to follow his path to the Lakers. -On his injury, he believes he will be back at 100% or close to it when the season opens. Possible he will have some minute restrictions early on. -On his attitude, says Dwight gave it all for the most part last year. (Save one game against the Knicks) Says that Dwight is clear he doesn't want to be in Houston and will not stay, but if he comes here for a year he will still give 100% to Houston for the year. I think that was all that was relevant. UPDATE:
To trade a potentialy Drummond and Beal combo for a huy who has made it clear wants no part of our franchise is not smart.
Call me crazy, but I'm not re-assured. I almost feel like it's a bad idea to trade for him. I imagine he would change his tune if Deron was wearing a Rockets' uni, but maybe not.
http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=221726&page=18 I posted a brief recap on the doc thread....seeing as that seems to be the main area where people are talking about all the relevant rumors and information...not saying this didn't deserve its own post. I also posted a brief recap of chad for on espn radio this morning.
Did anyone else listen to the interview that can back up the way I interpreted the Brooklyn comments? The way it sounded to me it was clear that Dwight's goal is Brooklyn. He wants it this year so he can be with Deron, but the way this guy said it IMO made it sound like he'll go there even without Deron.
It sounds like he ONLY wants to play in Brooklyn. I was all aboard the Dwight train, but this is just getting tiresome.
Not sure how we are supposed to embrace somebody who won't embrace us. It would be a rough season for him when he half asses it the first game.
$57 million That is how much money in salary Dwight will lose over the next 10 years if he does not sign a birds rights max contract when his current contract expires.
that's what i heard too. i also didn't find the interview to be any more informative than what i've read here from everyone else's best guesses.
Howard will be a major malconent all season and noway will anone give us any equal value in return at the trade deadline if we trade for him. Why coughup big for him when you know he wont be staying.
This guys isn't worth the assets were giving up for him. The Rockets need to find what ever self-respect they have left and walk away from any Dwight Howard deal. We need to focus on moving up in the draft and taking gambles on high end talent with super star potential like Drummond, Gilchirst, Beal, etc.
Thats like 2 or 3 years of off the court endorsments especially if he ends up in Brooklyn. No biggie for him.
i really am not interseted in bribing Howard to play in Houston only to see him leave after one year. If the guy doesn't want to be here, i really do't know why we wouldn't just move forward by rebuilding our team through the draft. There's also something else to consider: the circus that will come with dwight howard. I don't want no drama. Let's just rebuild through the draft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep accumulating picks Morey!
It's just his personal speculation. Dwight has never said that Brooklyn was the only place he wanted to go.
Exactly. He wants Brooklyn to establish his "brand" and he would ultimately make a lot more off the court there than he would here. It's a shame that it's not about winning anymore, but more about self-promotion.
Not in a press conference. But it seems clear that he's made it clear off the record to people as there isn't a reporter in the country who has a comment on it that doesn't support that.
